Safe place to keep cash at home?29 May 2008 03:37 GMT8
Because of business I'm in I keep a lot of cash in the house usually around
$30,000 every week.Deposits are made on Friday. What is good place to keep
large amounts of cash at home until I go to the bank? Are wall-safes safe?

Fireplace mantle and mounting flatscreen?28 May 2008 03:03 GMT1
With my trusty studfinder I located a 2x10 mounted flat against the drywall
about 4-5 feet off the floor about the fireplace in this condo.  Studs were
16 in on center above and below but then there is this sandwich of a 2x10,
1/2" MSB and another 2x10.  I ended up mounting the ...

I've lived my entire life in Ohio. Apparently, our cost of living is
pretty low, but as I see home values for CA homes, I just can't get
the numbers to resolve in my head...
Where I live, most folks pay around $100 per square foot for housing.

katrina18 May 2008 20:01 GMT1
Within days of Katrina's August 29, 2005 landfall, public debate arose
about the local, state and federal governments' role in the
preparations for and response to the storm. Criticism was prompted
largely by televised images of visibly shaken and frustrated political

Is it possible to haggle on a mortgage?
If so, on the fees or the rate itself?
Continually sidestepping foreclosure?16 May 2008 16:52 GMT3
I have a neighbor who has been listed among the foreclosure listings in the
Legal Notices section of my paper on and off for some time.  He's on again - the
date of his foreclosure is back in 2005.  Over this time, the family is going to
move, then they're not going to move, then ...
Are Mortgage Brokers Evil?16 May 2008 15:22 GMT2
In the 1990's everyone was crying about how evil lawyers and
contractors are. Lawyer jokes were common tales told around cocktail
tables and functions. At the turn of the decade, mortgage brokers were
added to the list and they too are under a lot of scrutiny and the pun
How Mortgages Have Changed The Face Of Homeownership15 May 2008 01:16 GMT1
Although many go house hunting, and house buying, it is amazing how
few people actually know what a mortage is and how a mortage works. It
is also not uncommon for many to mis-label their mortage and instead
call it a home loan. However, that term is totally misleading and
A/C Question11 May 2008 16:42 GMT3
Our house is about 8 years old and I remember the builder saying
something about watching for water dripping from the drip pipes under
the eaves, saying that it identified a problem with the air
conditioning unit.
Using electrical goods from Europe in the UK..?07 May 2008 23:02 GMT1
I'm in the UK and have just got a new (musical) keyboard from Ebay that was
sent from Belgium. I've just discovered it's got completely different power
needs - it uses 220 volts and has a 2-pronged plug that looks like one that
comes with electric razors.  I've been advised that ...
Wrapping Window Trim07 May 2008 18:57 GMT6
I have been getting quotes on new siding for my house, and some contractors
have suggested wrapping the window trim with aluminum as an alternative to
replacing with non-wood materials or leaving the wood.
The few examples of this I have seen did not look so good. I could see the
