Realtor for multiple counties?30 Jun 2006 21:42 GMT2
Hello, Im trying to find someone that could help me find a house in
North-East Pennsylvania.  Most realtors seem like they only deal with one
county. I would like to find someone that deals with multiple counties.  Is
this possible?  Im not even sure.  My priority is to find a ...
Use caution when selecting an above ground pool30 Jun 2006 18:31 GMT3
Well I made the mistake of buying one of the 16' x 4' circle pools
(above-ground) last summer. I followed the directions verbatim for
preparing the pool for winter. All pump and filter supplies including
hoses were stored in a heated and dry basement. Usually wouldn't
Bryant/Carrier vs. Trane30 Jun 2006 15:59 GMT2
1.  Which unit would you purchase?
I am having a new AC/Gas Furnace installed.  I have quotes on
Carrier, Bryant and Trane (2 Ton, 13 Seer, 60BTU).  Bryant came in the
least expensive, and I've been told Bryant is made by Carrier and is

I thought to take the advice from the members of the group on
an issue I am not quite familiar with, being a new resident in this
country (U.S.). It seems perplexing how the Landlords manipulate. The
lease of the apartment I am living in Pittsburgh, PA was

Are all contractors like that ? What recourses do I have ?28 Jun 2006 15:49 GMT21
We hired someone to build a roughly 200 sq ft paved brick patio. In the
process of getting bids we went through the following:
Contractor #1 came over to do a free estimate very quickly. It took him
about two weeks to come up with a proposal but eventually he did. The

Use credit card check for house down payment - good idea?26 Jun 2006 17:37 GMT20
My wife and I were kicking this idea around and wanted to get some
outside input.
We're buying a home for about $140K.  We are able to put 20% down so we
won't have to pay PMI, but I'd like to drop my monthy payment even
"Hugger" ceiling fans26 Jun 2006 16:43 GMT7
Would anyone care to give me some info on "hugger" ceiling fans?  I don't
have much head-room in the room I want to put this type of fan in, but I've
read that fans must be a certain distance from the ceiling to operate
properly.  I need max air circulation.

base for building backyard fireplace26 Jun 2006 01:04 GMT1
I read how an outside fireplace needs special bricks ("fire bricks") to
build safely but what about the base for laying those bricks? Do they
need a cement layer first (as I've read some place) or is just some
gravel packed down a sufficient base to lay bricks. Any suggestions

Wiring suddenly fixed??25 Jun 2006 18:23 GMT2
We have a ceiling fixture in our house which has never worked in the 6
years we've been here.  The wiring is old....still knob and tube.  We
had a pretty heavy storm here today with some lightning and all of the
