I recently moved into a condo built in 1964 and was curious in why some
of the non-broken switches didn't function or have convienence outlets.
I tested one of the 2 pin switches and found out both the wires
connected (black & red) are hot.  I'm no electrician, but is this some

have one task left. I left the steel lolly columns (2) (3 or 4 inch)
exposed and intent to paint them to keep with the industrial feel of
the decor. The problem is how to finish the column where it passes

I recently moved into a new house in Atlanta and I'm hoping to get some
advice on how to best deal with a pretty bad mud problem we have in our
backyard. Our yard slopes very gradually down to the center and from
there is flat. We're getting water runoff from neighbors on both sides
A Very Bad Roofer28 Feb 2005 21:47 GMT10
I had a solar system installed on my rooftop by Bilt-Well a few years
ago.  They had damaged my rooftop and causing a large amount of leaking
since then.  After I contacted them(numerous times), they said they'd
no longer in solar business and will not do anything to fix the

I am in the process of purchasing a house, an issue came up with
respect to Kitchen Tiles cracks in the recent Home Inspection that I
had it done. The inspector cited the reason for Tile cracks in
"improper sub-floor support" and said it could cost some where between
Need advice on crawl space insulation28 Feb 2005 18:44 GMT3
Everything I have read about insulating the floors above a crawl space
make a point of saying that the insulation should be placed directly
against the floor with no air gaps.  Why do they insist on the "no air
space"?   Not knowing anything about insulation, it seems that an air

Above ground pool winter cover has hole27 Feb 2005 04:14 GMT5
Hi to all, I have a 24ft above ground pool and my winter cover has a
hole in it. The pool is now completely filled with ice. Just wondering
if anyone living in the northeast has survived a similar problem and
what was done to try and get the water, as it melts, out of the pool.
plumbing question27 Feb 2005 03:32 GMT5
I recently turned off the main water shut off valve outside the house
to replaced a bad toilet water valve. The main water shut off valve
wouldn't turn off completely but water pressure was reduced quite a
bit.
New Gas Range Opinions27 Feb 2005 03:09 GMT7
I'm in the market for a new stove, and I prefer a free-standing gas range.
So far, I have found the features that I like in the $700 - $1000 price
range. The features that I want include: self-cleaning oven, electronic oven
control with timer, porcelain burner grates, stainless ...

I just bought a condo (woohoo!), and have noticed ever since I moved in
that the heater will sometimes have a "clicking fit" - for no reason
immediately apparent to me, the heater will make a clicking noise every
second or so, and this will last for quite some time, often until the
