Tree Branch Fell on Phone Line10 Sep 2004 00:28 GMT6
The tree is out of our back yard, in the property of water district. A
branch fell and stuck on the lines over our back yard. The branch is
about 20 feet high, and beyond our reach.
PG&E came out and said that the branch is not on their power line, but
dingy house, how to make it brighter?09 Sep 2004 21:41 GMT10
My house is dingy without much light - the property is heavily treed, and
we're facing whichever direction offers the least sunlight. The house would
be great if it weren't so dungeon-like. Cutting down trees are not an option,
but I wonder if there's something I can do to make the ...
Plug Wiring Reversed?09 Sep 2004 20:44 GMT39
I just bought a house and the inspector tagged four of six basement
outlets as hot/neutral reversed.
I open the first two, see the problem, and fix it (one of two blacks
was going to silver and one of two whites was going to brass).

Is my agent acting on his or my interest?09 Sep 2004 16:53 GMT6
We signed a listing agreement with our agent which allows him to be a
dual agent if he brings in a buyer with a commission of 4%(if there is
a buyer's agent, he'll need to split the 5% commission with her).
Now we have two competing offers, the 1st one has a contigency to sell
paint sprayer for trim and walls in new addition08 Sep 2004 23:52 GMT1
I'm doing an addition on my home (> 1000 sq. ft.) and will be taking
care of the painting of both the trim and the walls (as well as the
exterior). I was hoping to paint the trim before it is put on the
walls.
Bowed support beam08 Sep 2004 19:21 GMT3
My back porch has five beams supporting the roof and four feet of the
second story.  Each beam is a treated 6 by 6.  One of the beams has
bowed and twisted some.  There is just over an inch bow in the 10 foot
raise and about 5 degrees twist.  How much intregrity gets lost by
Anyone tried an indoor swimming pool?08 Sep 2004 19:15 GMT3
There was once a hotel in Las Vegas which featured a private  indoor
swimming pool next to some of the rooms. The walls were plaster with
a sliding glass door on the entry and for outside access. There was
also a ventilation fan to reduce the humidity, which was probably
how to insulate under horiz. vinyl siding?08 Sep 2004 18:29 GMT2
We have an area on the floor that was cold under our feet in winter, and it
happens to be just over a basement entrance. The 4'x6' region above the
basement entrance has vinyl siding under it (the siding is horizontal,
covering the underside of the first floor in the overhang ...

"3-way bulb only, not regular A-19"???07 Sep 2004 20:45 GMT4
I recently bought a cheap torchiere (the one on sale last week at
Canadian Tire, for anyone who cares).  It uses regular bulbs instead
of halogen.
But both on the box and in the instructions, it says "This lamp uses a
Friend Needs Help Buying House - Advice?07 Sep 2004 17:00 GMT2
My friend needs help buying a house.  Unfortunately, his financing won't
be approved for a week or so; the house could be sold by then.  I will
NOT co-sign a loan so I am considering buying the house, charge him one
month's rent, then sell the house to him as he would have ...
Moen single faucet handle (kitchen)07 Sep 2004 15:31 GMT2
Could I be imagining that the handle in my Moen kitchen faucet is
getting harder to push down?  It doesn't appear to leak or drip so it
doesn't seem to be a problem for now but if I'm right, what does it
mean ?

We just had a lengthy presentation at our house by an outfit who wants to
install 21 Bristol windows in our house.  Would you  please comment on this
brand of window regarding your experience from any perspective?  Thanks very
much.
