My gf was using the dryer tonight, and all of a sudden I smelled something burning.
So I opened the dryer door and smoke came out!
I went to get her, and we checked out the clothes and they were HOT!!
This was a minute later, but the clothes were still very hot.
stuck windows - looking for non-smelly silicone lube31 Aug 2004 23:09 GMT9
I have windows that are friction based (no rollers) and need silicone

lubes and oils attract dirt, which jams up the surfaces.  The silicone
lube works great and is long lasting, but the problem is the nasty

dollars had not this newsgroup existed; here's the story in case
anyone else is in the same position.
A couple of months ago I allowed a water conditioning salesman from

human urine on wallpaper31 Aug 2004 05:50 GMT27
My husband and bought a 20 year old townhome a month ago--our first
house. Worried that one of my less well trained cats would start
marking his new territory, I bought a black light and checked all
corners a few days ago to see if my fears materialized.

I have a 14-year old Hotpoint side-by-side fridge. The plastic sliding
selector for the ice/water/cubes, has broken. I had tugged is roughly
recently and the exposed plastic piece broke. I tried gluing it back
with superGlue, but due to the shape of the break, it doesn't seem to
Taxes on income from rental property31 Aug 2004 02:40 GMT7
Hello. I'm uncertain whether I'm posting on the correct newsgroup. If I'm not,
I'd appreciate it if you'd re-direct me.  I'd like to know how income from
rental property is taxed. For example, if someone rents out a part of their
house to a tenant, how is this taxed in the United ...

Low water pressue; well pump always runs31 Aug 2004 00:17 GMT1
In the last few days, our water pressure has dropped dramatically.  How can
I diagnose whether the pump has gone bad, or if something is partially
clogged?
I have a deep well with a submerged pump, and a 20 gallon bladder tank.  The
French Drain - Gluing Pipes?30 Aug 2004 19:39 GMT2
I'm installing a surface drainage (for downspouts) and subsurface (french
drain) system in my backyard. I was reading a pamphlet of one of the piping
mfgs (I think it was NDS), and it said to glue all piping connections.
This seems like wasted time and effort since small leakage at ...
Delusions re Making $ in Real Estate (WSJ)30 Aug 2004 19:33 GMT6
Great (and amusing) recent article in the WSJ, ":How toStop Relatives
From Bragging About Their Big Profits in Real Estate", debunking a
hypothetical guy "Bob" who bought a house for $250k and sold it for
$360k 5 years later.

Birds breaking their necks on my windows.30 Aug 2004 03:02 GMT7
We have several feeders out back and the house has large picture
windows on both floors.  Five (!!!) birds in the last two weeks have
been killed through flying into the glass (4 finches and 1 mourning
dove - this last one sounded like a bomb going off) . We have tried
Yellow jackets, wasps and bees........OH MY!29 Aug 2004 23:27 GMT3
What to do? It appears we have a hive under the house and we THINK it's
yellow jackets. One place gave an est. of $149 and another was $225.
BOTH said if we wait they may die off over winter. Is waiting a good
idea? Both places say bids are ballpark figures depending on what they
