Paint Scheme For Basement Soffits?22 Dec 2003 16:00 GMT6
I am ready to paint my newly finished basement.
The ceilings are smooth drywall and are only about 7 1/2 feet high.
As in typical basements, I have built soffits around the I-beams and
the hvac ducting.  The ceiling will be white and the walls will be a
Which dishwasher brand and model do you recommend ?22 Dec 2003 12:33 GMT1
My dishwasher has suddenly stopped working and I MAY need to replace
it.
My dishwasher budget is between $250 to $350. From whatever little I
have read, the following brands are good in the following order-
Overheating covered can lights21 Dec 2003 17:59 GMT9
I have 2 fully enclosed recessed ceiling can lights in my new home, in
the master bath. Code requires them to have full covers and gaskets.
With standard 60 watt incandescent bulbs they overheat in 10 minutes
and go out as the thermal protection kicks in.
"proper" way to install garage door opener21 Dec 2003 04:37 GMT5

I want to install a programmable thermostat and did some poking

up a heating contractor to talk about installation.  He told me

homested exemption question....20 Dec 2003 03:29 GMT5
I bought a new house and closed on it December 10th of this year
(2003). The mortgage agent has told me that I should apply for the
homestead exemption in January 2004 but that it won't show up in my
escrow untill December of 2004, so I'll be forced to pay out the full
rounded edge laminate countertops19 Dec 2003 23:23 GMT3
The builder of house we are building (cookie cutter variety - end loan
based) hooked us up with a kitchen & bath shop. They are charging an
incredible $30 per linear foot extra for bevelled edge laminate over
standard edge which we don't like. They are asking us to go for corian
Ideas for preventing ice damming?19 Dec 2003 22:34 GMT14
Hi all...
Last year we had a heavy snow winter here and I had ice damming and roof
leaking problems that I would prefer not to have repeat this time
around. I had planned on shoveling the snow off the bottom part of my
Forclosure/Counter Offer Question19 Dec 2003 19:39 GMT14
Is it normal for a forclosure company to specify clauses such as a
"$100/Diem" clause?  The counter offer is 64K, pending financing and
the $100/day clause if it doesn't close by January 26, 2004.  They lay
it out pretty good in the addendum, but seems to me if any thing goes
