Converting 2 line home to 1 line home28 Feb 2006 18:59 GMT4
Hello the house I bought has 2 separate phone lines which I don't
really need and would like to reintegrate them into 1. The juntion box
is on the side of my house and appear rather convoluted. Without
getting into the details of the configuration too much is there an easy
Insteon receptacles?28 Feb 2006 15:51 GMT13
I was wondering if there is any Insteon enabled wall receptacle out
there. Something similar to the ones available for X10.
Thanks
Insteon vs UPB vs Zwave28 Feb 2006 15:49 GMT2
Looking for some thoughts here.  We want to have a central controller like
the HAI we have now, and not a PC in a new home we going to be building.  We
don't want to go to Centralite due to dependence on a single vendor and non
standard wiring. Ditto for single vendor on ALC, and ...
Dallas 1-Wire Problem/question28 Feb 2006 15:44 GMT3
Hello all. I have an IOM142A board from phanderson.com that I have been
using for a couple of years now. I put temperature sensors in every
room of the house, as well as the garage and basement. Overall it works
pretty well except that I am getting a lot of read errors on certain

Has anyone here ever mounted strain gauges on basement jacking posts to
measure the load changes of the floor supported by the posts?

translator question28 Feb 2006 15:25 GMT55
I'm considering tackling the TW523 emulator translator.
Which of the controllers which might make use of this send for all three
phases and which only send for a single phase? I know ADI only sends for one
and think HAI is the same. I'm not sure this is critical but would like to
Reed Switch for Garage Door28 Feb 2006 05:04 GMT10
I'm looking for a reed switch to sense if a garage door is open.
Radio Shack used to sell one for security systems.  It was maybe 4" long,
and would handle a gap of an inch or so.
Any ideas for a mechanical switch would also be appreciated.
Whole house audio - Nuvo or ChannelPlus?28 Feb 2006 04:50 GMT15
Hello - first time poster to the CHA group, I have a feeling I'll be
frequenting this group in the future :D
I'm building a home and I'm trying to spec out a whole house media
distribution system.  Right now I am covering all my bases by hom-run
x10 vs wireless network26 Feb 2006 21:30 GMT6
Since they both use 2.4Ghz, is there a problem with trying to set up an
X10 system where a Netgear wireless network is already operating?
thanks for any info

translation question25 Feb 2006 14:04 GMT3
It will simplify things for the translators if the X-10 codes which are to
be translated to/from Insteon or UPB are segregated by housecode with any
specific housecode limited to 100% X-10 devices or to Insteon and/or UPB
devices.
software for TW523 on Linux25 Feb 2006 01:23 GMT12
I am looking for software to communicate with a TW523 from a Linux box.
I found softwares like twseriald and rt_x10 but they do not compile on
my actually Linux system.  I think those software are too old for the
latest headers and libraries used on my system.
Radio Broadcast for Home Automation?25 Feb 2006 00:13 GMT8
My home automation can speak status messages over the PC speakers. Now I
want to send this messages to all rooms in our house.
Radio broadcasting seems not to be the best solution, because I would like
to decide which message should be sent to which room.
Xantech IR extenders.24 Feb 2006 18:47 GMT1
I am interested in knowing more about the different Xantech IR
extenders.
Can anyone explain the differences between the CPL10 RF/IR Coupler and
the INJ94 RF/IR Injector / CPL94B RF/IR Coupler.
