Wireless audio transmission12 May 2004 23:58 GMT2
Does anyone know a way to stream the audio output of a computer
wirelessly.  I don't want to use any special media software on my
computer, except maybe an alternatative virtual sound card driver that
would redirect the output to the wireless receiver.

Simple PC board layout12 May 2004 20:27 GMT12
I'm building a bunch of sensors to hook up to my HA system.  Each will have
<10 parts.
I know I hand hand-wire them, but have seen simple photo-etch kits for PC
boards..  You just print the layout on a special film using a laser
Providing outlets for two telephone connections12 May 2004 02:21 GMT2
I need to install structured wiring in our new home.
Could someone please let me know how to wire for two telephone connection
outlets from a single CAT 5 wire. I am wondering if I need to install
two RJ11 jacks at the outlet, or I can install a single RJ45 and use some

Anyone had trouble filtering a noisy UPS?
I have an APC ES350U...have tried AF100 and Filterlinc, neither can block
the noise from this UPS.  I've had no problem filtering another identical
UPS.

Do couplers fail?11 May 2004 03:50 GMT8
I just installed an appliance outlet for the Pond. It's chained off the
GFI that was already there. Everything works, but the controlled outlet
of course.
I tested the signal strength with one of those cheap SmartHome specials

Any one have any experience with setting up a PC music server (say in
a closet) connected to an amp and in ceiling speakers throughout the
house that can be controlled by a PDA from any room in the house?  For
example, a PDA using Pocket PC that controls the music server (running
Newbie with Thermostat question11 May 2004 00:28 GMT3
Ok, while not a newbie to control circuits, I am definitely a newbie on X-10
stuff.  That said, here is what I want to do:
My 2 story house has very choked ducting, making cooling the upper floor
without freezing the lower floor, impossible. Conversely, heating the lower
x10 transmission issue10 May 2004 20:57 GMT7
I live in a fairly small 1 bedroom apartment.  I cant get some of the
rooms in my apartment to "talk" to other rooms.  I believe that the
problem is a problem that many people seem to have with the 220v
coupling issue.  Unfortunately, there are no 220v outlets in my
X10 Testers10 May 2004 19:44 GMT9
With the addition of the ACT AT004 A10/X10 tester, I now have a fairly
full arsenal of X10 test equipment. About the only thing missing is an
oscilloscope. The old Leviton test set is useful for measuring signal
strength and finding errors much like the Elk unit.

you can also control the lights and take video captures.

only work during daylight EST.  Any other time, all you will get are black

Hello all, great messages. I am a 17 year old Junior in South Texas.
Home automation has interested me for years now.  I really want to
install/design systems once I am done with high school.  I do not know
where to start.  The are no degrees in this field so I am sort of
Coupler Repeater experience09 May 2004 13:53 GMT1
I've had a trouble spot in my 7800sf 2 story home for some time. The
signal in that area always showed up at less than 25mv - virtually
useless - and noise reads at <25mv too. Disconnecting loads made no
difference. There is an ACT CR234 Coupler/Repeater at the 1st floor
