I want to relay IR commands in a remote room at the location of the
video source (Tivo box).
I don't care if I have to run new wire (ie, using existing coax for
back channel isn't really a big plus for me).  And I don't really care

Anyone have any data on the idle power consumption of X-10
modules (not the load) such as lamp/appliance modules,
wall-switches/dimmers, RF transceivers, etc.?

video cameras (either from an 802.11b source or via "hard wired" coax
input to a PC board) and do the typical kind of recording for
surveillance... 30fps, store a week or so of input from each camera

I am interested in setting up a very low  budget 2 camera dial up web
accessed PC monitoring system at an elderly relative's house  and saw
those $50 ( approx ) generic DVR cards at the big online auctionbay .
These are a fraction of the price of those offered by the CCTV
