How do most people monitor a zone in a house. I would like to have the lights turn on when I enter my daylight basement. I would like the lights to turn on when I'm going down the stairs and turn off when I'm going up the stairs.

I have two of these units that I picked up used. They basically seem to work ... in monitoring the temperature, etc. and I can "call in" and get the voice synthesizer responding back remotely. However, the dialing out mechanism does not see to work ... in either of them.

Are there any new universal remotes, other than those sold by X10, which support X10's RF??? The current ones sold by X10 itself seem to be a rather "old" design, in that they don't even have a "DVD" button.
