Filters and equations16 Jan 2004 16:07 GMT4
I want to make some X-10 filters, and my equations aren't coming up with the values I commonly see
for X-10 filters. Assuming the following are correct, what are the units:
R =FL,  R=1/FC (first order filters)
F=sqrt(1/LC)  (resonant filter)
Affordable solutions for distributing A/V?16 Jan 2004 15:00 GMT3
Can someone recommend some affordable PC-based solutions for
controlling audio and video in a "home-run" wired new home?  Looking
for a less expensive alternative to Crestron and Escient-level
systems.  Something other than Microsoft Media Center. The ideal
motion sensing light switch (triggered when there is no motion)16 Jan 2004 10:15 GMT9
I recently moved into a new apartment, where I replaced the manual
light switches with the motion sensing type that I bought at Home
Depot. They also have a variable adjustment to keep lights off when
there is enough ambient light in the room (window light).
Heat-A/C zoning question15 Jan 2004 23:16 GMT9
Does anyone know where I can find a motor driven (open/close) heat-A/C
wall register ?  I'm trying to zone my home and don't want to dismantle
the main ducting to put in dampers.  I guess I'm looking for a
servo-driven register, maybe with an RS-422 or RS-485 interface, which
Prewire for DirecTV12 Jan 2004 08:52 GMT8
I'm in the design phase for a fairly large home.  The homeowner will use
either dishnetwork or directv, and wants to be able to move his 4 set top
boxes from room to room, plug in the box, and watch TV.  I have a couple of
questions I'm hoping someone can answer.
Caddx LCD12 Jan 2004 08:10 GMT2
Can anyone tell me how to have Caddx display faulted zones on the LCD
KP. For example, if someone opens a door, I would like to be able to
read that the zone is faulted on the KP when it is faulted, regardless
of the armed state of the system and without getting off of my duff to

X-10 noise filters12 Jan 2004 06:55 GMT7
X-10 noise filters available from various sites rated 5 amp,
10 amp, and 15 amp (but the 10 amp costing as much as the 15).
Is a 5 amp sufficient for a home theater setup?  I've found
the power ratings for all my HT equipment _except the TV_ to

Transmit, Distribute Television over Cat5e network12 Jan 2004 01:58 GMT2
I would like to know the ways I could transmit television using
existing Cat5e cable instead of having to run Coax cable.
I have a digital satellite system as well as an "analog aerial" (don't
know any more details then that).

thermostat with on-time logging?09 Jan 2004 16:42 GMT8
I'm adding insulation to my house and doing other stuff to reduce my gas
bill. But I only get feedback once a month from the gas company.
Since my furnance is either on or off (no low or high setting), if the
thermostat logs the "on" time per day for me, it would give me a way to
