? about automating electric heat23 Nov 2003 15:50 GMT3
Is there anything out there that enables one to control line-voltage
thermostats for baseboard electric heat in the home?  Would like to use a PC
to control temperature in each room and be able to turn back all rooms at
night and during day when no one is home.
ActiveHome vs Remote control23 Nov 2003 13:15 GMT2
I have a light switch on address A6.  With my Powerhouse HR12A remote
control, I can turn the light on and off.  ActiveHome "sees" the light go on
and off on it's display.  But I cannot turn the light on or off from
ActiveHome so my timer doesn't work.  Every other address I have ...
Mom needs a remote control thermostat23 Nov 2003 06:32 GMT5
See Mom.  See Mom sit.  Mom is 75 years old and spends much of her day
(and night) in her recliner watching TV.  Mom gets hot or cold at the
drop of a hat.  Mom doesn't move so well anymore.  Mom hates having to
get up to turn up or down the temperature on her wall-mounted

I have now installed hallway lighting consisting of 20 individual light
bulbs in a row (35 Watts each), currently controlled by one appliance
Heater control with motion detector?23 Nov 2003 04:38 GMT3
I have been trying to incorporate a
leviton occupancy light switch in combination with a standard thermostat to
control supplemental electric baseboard heaters in my basement. It looks
like the switches won't carry the load of heaters so I'll have to use relays

Switchers for video21 Nov 2003 21:17 GMT1
We're moving to the country and although cable television is available in my area, it's not available at my property due to the very rocky terrain and that fact that it would be expensive to bury.  The cable company isn't ready to come to my property yet.
Anyway, I figure I'll be ...
What's wrong with a Lamp Switch on this halogen light?21 Nov 2003 16:13 GMT2
I was planning on using a classic style 2-wire lamp switch for a new
patio light which happens to be the kind with a bulb that looks like a
pencil.  I figure if I never actually "dim" it, but just use on/off,
it should be OK, right?

remote controlled lights switches, either ir or rf or whatever?
