Thanks to all who replied to my 9/10 posting about RF amplifiers & my digital cable. In the hopes of helping some other newbie not be a schmoe like me, I'll post the dealio. Some of these lessons learned may be 2nd nature to you guys, but that would be reason #44 that I'm a schmoe.

What universal/learning remote control has the longest range? Sometimes I am in a direct line of sight to the home theater (like when I am at the computer) and it would be handy to control it from across the house.
