Oily Water Turned Soil Gray!!!28 Feb 2010 23:04 GMT4
Hi everyone,
A few months ago, my car had a major oil leak ( Rear Main Seal ), and
when I started it up, oil basically POURED right out in A STREAM, and my
car went through one quart of oil in like 5 minutes. There was a HUGE
Frogspawn here28 Feb 2010 19:06 GMT14
Well I had thought they might have been a bit later this year with it
being such a cold winter but when I looked out of the window this
morning I could see the tell-tale ripples on the pond.
Went out and saw half a dozen or so frogs and one clump of spawn.
Intensive Gardening Has My Interest28 Feb 2010 17:03 GMT1
Intensive gardening seems to produce great crops with many added
advantages to single row planting.  I'm going to give it a shot this
year.  I'm going to use a 50'x3 1/2' bed and see what happens as far as
the results.  I like the idea of NO wasted space!  My garden will be
Want to erect a greenhouse28 Feb 2010 13:03 GMT5
Having moved into a new property at the end of last summer, I am keen to
erect a greenhouse in our new garden.  We have a particular spot in mind but
wondered if there was a particularly good position for a greenhouse.
Any advice would be welcomed.
Water Feature28 Feb 2010 11:08 GMT3
I am contemplating installing a small water feature, perhaps
something with a drilled stone sitting on pebbles.
There seem to be some available as kits, alternatively parts can
be bought separately. I guess for the stone, getting this locally
woven netting source28 Feb 2010 08:20 GMT9
A number of years ago I purchased some netting, from the internet, to
keep the pigeons off my raised beds, unfortunately I cannot remember the
supplier. It has lasted well, and is woven from a cotton type of thread
rather than any sort of plastic. I have decided that I would like ...

good fruit/vegetable choices for 3-4 year stay?27 Feb 2010 17:31 GMT7
We are buying a house, and it is likely we will be at the place for
around 3 or 4 years before moving.  As such, I've been trying to figure
out what plants to focus on.  Obviously, we shouldn't really plant
anything that takes 4+ years to mature.

parsley shape27 Feb 2010 02:25 GMT3

Heirloom tomatoes - Is this group alive?27 Feb 2010 02:25 GMT2

With Gardens closed for the time being, does anybody now where to get
cool heirloom tomatoes?
Cheers.
cucumbers27 Feb 2010 00:35 GMT10
I'm growing a few cucumbers this year from seed. The variety I chose
requires the male flowers to be removed. I've done this before & have no
problems.
My question .....    Why only remove the male flowers ? why not remove the
Leonardslee26 Feb 2010 16:45 GMT5
I see in today's paper that Leonardslee has been sold by the Loder
family to an East European buyer.  It seems certain to close to the
public but the current owners hope that the new owner will change his
mind and decide that it is a garden that needs to be shared.
