Can I keep them alive?20 Oct 2008 16:19 GMT3
Having lurked in the group for a (short) time, I feel certain that I can
elicit some advice on a problem I (or rather some shrubs) seem to be
having in my garden.
Living in the Blackmore Vale area of Dorset - a few miles south of
Butternt Squash20 Oct 2008 13:49 GMT8
I'm new to this site and new to gardening.  I have a butternut squas
that has taken over my very small plot.  I have a few small ones, an

large one is still green.  Will it turn colour?  Is there anything
Huskless pumpkin seeds20 Oct 2008 12:01 GMT1
I remember seeing a variety of pumpkin that has no husk/shell on the
seeds.
I want to try growing some next year,  but I cannot find the seeds
available
Sadly missed seed caralogues20 Oct 2008 10:49 GMT6
I cannot be alone in abhorring the current "seed" catalogues. Big glossy
things with more flowers, plants and equipment than seeds. Oh for the
old just seed catalogues, sigh. Sign of being old I suppose!
Fan-trained fruit advice, please.20 Oct 2008 10:16 GMT8
I am helping a local school turn a neglected garden into an 'allotment'
The garden runs E/W on its longest side with the northern boundary being
a granite wall about 2 metres in height. A wall of similar height
protects the garden from the prevailing westerlies. The soil is light ...
Skirret20 Oct 2008 09:21 GMT2
Has anyone here grown  Skirret (Sium sisarum), and, if so, what are
their experiences of both growing it, and eating it (if they've grown
it for food)? Many thanks.
conifer planting20 Oct 2008 08:37 GMT2
Any ideas on the best method for planting confiers?
Soil is currently builders rubble/clay which doesn't drain well.
The conifers are about 4 feet tall.

Leek Rust20 Oct 2008 08:29 GMT1
Can you eat leeks that have rust?  Most of the green stuff is chopped off,
so I presume they're okay to eat?
Thanks.

Red Apple Dying20 Oct 2008 01:48 GMT11
Portions of my Red Apple ground cover have started to die. Small patches
just begin dying next to healthy sections.
Have not over watered or fed lately. Too many sections are dying to
suspect animal urine.
bringing aloe vera indoors for winter19 Oct 2008 23:51 GMT1
Hi, I bought an aloe vera a few months ago and it's done great outside.
I'm going to bring it indoors for winter - is there anything I should
know? I read on one web site I should acclimatise it to indoors by
bringing it in at nights only. Is this correct?

Complete Newbie to veg growing!19 Oct 2008 23:15 GMT13
I have decided to grow veg on raised beds and have no idea where to start. I
have a small piece of lawn that I will be converting. Does anybody have any
recommendations for a book to give me ideas and advice. I'm presuming (maybe
wrongly) that I can't actually plant anything ...
