What to do w/ last cantaloupes?28 Oct 2008 05:52 GMT2
First frost is coming.  I had some late cantaloupes sprout in
September, and they are not quite ready to pick yet, but I'm nervous
they won't make it.  Will they ripen off the vine?  Should I leave
them and keep covering w/ a sheet at night?  Or should I just call it
Help out an autumn newbie28 Oct 2008 05:39 GMT1
I live in SW Utah, zone 6 or 10 depending on the map I look at.  It's
confusing.
I need to go out and torch the weeds in my garden and start for fall.
What would be a good itinerary?

Dandelions27 Oct 2008 18:40 GMT6
I live in Southern Minnesota, and we've already had two or three light
frosts.  Is it too late to spray for dandelions?  I'd really like to spray
this fall because I'd like things to look nice for my daughter's graduation
party next spring.

Persimmons26 Oct 2008 22:15 GMT71
Off the top of anyone's head - no need to go gargling, I can do that
when i see how much leeway I've got at the end of the month - how big a
tree is the persimmon (date plum)?
Might it just be hardy?
Black Krim Tomato volunteer26 Oct 2008 20:34 GMT1
I had a Black Krim tomato plant a year ago.  This year a volunteer
tomato came up in my garden and managed to set a few fruits.  This
being a very cool short summer it was pretty amazing.  The variety was
that same Black Krim-- a Russian type that is unmistakable for any
Ground cover26 Oct 2008 20:14 GMT10
It want to put down ground cover in front garden. The garden is about 8m
x 7m.
I'd really like to put down marble or granite aggregate, but at about
£6.00 per 5Kg I think the cost would be too much for me at the moment.
Trudelia alpina (syn Vanda)26 Oct 2008 19:55 GMT1
Anyone tell me which would be the best way to grow this little fellow? At
the moment it is in large chunks of bark. Would this do better mounted on a
slab? Can't find a lot of photos or info on this orchid so I'm reaching out
to you guys that have the knowledge.
Orchid Shows26 Oct 2008 19:44 GMT1
Like everything else in this economy attendance at our orchid show was down.
But those who *did* attend made the vendors very happy by buying in lots of
$100 or more.  So what's up with that?  The AOS and Orchid Digest magazine
have noted declining membership and ennui in local ...
