Bosch shredder giving problems12 Oct 2008 07:36 GMT3
I have a Bosch shredder, model 1600HP, about 7 years old, that I use
for shredding shrubby stuff, mostly hedge trimmings such as Leylandii,
but it's becoming increasingly difficult to use. Twigs and branches
thicker than say a finger still go through more-or-less OK, but
Cordyline11 Oct 2008 22:15 GMT2
I had two cordylines in my lawn, one has died, the other one is not too
healthy  .Any ideas what is causing this? Thanks for any advise.  Fred.
Revamped Border11 Oct 2008 22:12 GMT3
Hello, All.  It's been a long time since I've looked at this newgroup - I
vaguely recall all kinds of shennanigans a while ago - but I'm back with a
question, actually 2 questions:
I want to revamp my mixed border to make it less mixed and more perennial

Any free 'gardening forums' you guys can suggest?
Toadstools growing11 Oct 2008 21:17 GMT3
I gave my front lawn a mow earlier today, and noticed in two places,
there was toad stools growing at the edges of the lawn.
I turned my front garden over earlier in the year and reseeded it all
after levelling and throwing in/on some sharp sand to aid drainage, as
Gardening11 Oct 2008 16:11 GMT1
As I take my morning walks and see all types of gardens, the type I'
most fond of is the meadow. A meadow garden reflects the rhythm of th
seasons, starting with bulbs and tiny spring wildflowers; moving int
summer with blowsy perennial sunflowers.
Dolichos, Phaseolus, Lablab etc.11 Oct 2008 15:48 GMT3
I grew some "pea-beans" from Tuckers this year - they were OK but
not delicious as green beans, but very good as dried ones (pretty,
too).  And they have ripened BETTER than borlotti beans.
I suspect that they are a variety of lablab bean, but can find
wood lice11 Oct 2008 12:07 GMT4
I have an awful lot of them in my compost bin, is this normal?   I have
taken delivery of 2 wooden slatted boxes, from  local block drive builder,
which contained their cobbles, sets etc, I am just waiting for someone
strong to help me lift them down the garden, so I can have 2 ...
bulk cow manure in Sydney11 Oct 2008 11:50 GMT23
My local "manure/compost" supplies are 20L bags of chicken, cow or
mushroom compost at a nearby chicken breeder.
I know the chicken breeder bags his own shed scrappings as the compost,
but I expect he buys in the cow and mushroom compost (probably bagged)

This is a 50 yr old eucalyptus in our back yard in a house we just bought,
brand new construction.  Soil is 18 inches higher than the neighbor's behind
Storms and Trees11 Oct 2008 01:06 GMT2
Storms
Trees are often wounded by agents other than humans.  Many trees in south
Florida were injured severely by hurricane Andrew several years ago.  After
storm injury, work must be done first to reduce the risk of fractures that
Westwood 1300M11 Oct 2008 00:51 GMT1
I'm new to this forum, I have just bought a new house and it has jus
over 1/2 an acre of grass. This has had small cows grazing on it o
occasions to keep it down. I obviously dont want grazing but instea

Help with identifying a tree from seed and leaf please11 Oct 2008 00:06 GMT8
I'm not much of a gardener and just do the donkey stuff for swmbo.
I do hope this is an appropriate group.
She picked up a leaf with attached seeds in NW London a few days back whilst
visiting friends.
Spare seeds!10 Oct 2008 21:41 GMT3
Does this newsgroup have a seed bank? I have a good quantity of Morning
Glory, 'Grandpa Otts' seeds to give away, it seems a shame to otherwise
throw them away.
