taking bay cuttings?25 Sep 2008 17:43 GMT5
I have got hold of a 'branch' from a bay bush, or is it a tree? - I don't
know, but it's a very robust plant, being about 7 ft tall and about 4 ft
diameter at the bottom.
I've been given a 2 ft section and the diameter of the bottom is about half

Plant ID please25 Sep 2008 12:36 GMT3
A neighbor asked me to look at her "butterfly bush".  Well, right away
I knew it wasn't the typical butterfly bush that attracts
butterflies.  The blooms themselves look like small butterflies.
I have done a lot of searching but have not been able to identify it.
Bay laurel25 Sep 2008 05:38 GMT10
I have a bay laurel in a pot in the kitchen window (killer frosts are
predicted this week) and, after a season of vigorous growth, it needs
cutting back.  What is the best time for pruning?

Garden Oddity: What the heck is it?25 Sep 2008 02:44 GMT44
Out picking beans yesterday, I noted the appearance of three huge fungi,
one at the inner base of each pole, on one "teepee" of my pole beans.
This is the first I noticed them so I have no idea how long they've been
there.  Seems like it can't be too long since I pick beans at ...
Honeysuckle Help24 Sep 2008 23:23 GMT10
To all Gardeners,
I recently planted a honeysuckle into my garden, in a partial shadey area
against a trellis. I loosely fixed the new growth against the trellis, and
it seemed to do very well, almost doubling it's height with lots of new
medlars24 Sep 2008 23:22 GMT5
A lot of fruits on the medlar tree earlier this year. I know you don't shake
the tree till November, but they've all gone.  Does something eat medlars?
Or might they have dropped and been taken?  Anyone know about medlars?
cheers
Tea24 Sep 2008 22:23 GMT5
Does anyone here grow tea? I was thinking the other night that I know
of no one who does...Guess I'll have to research the issue, but it
could be kinda fun...

Damson Trees?24 Sep 2008 21:37 GMT19
I'm not that good at gardening and especially at identifying species of
anything.  We moved into our house nearly 20 years ago and have a fairly
large garden with a wildish bit over the fence at the bottom. There is a row
of trees there that have simply seemed a nuisance and we ...
Two magnolia questions24 Sep 2008 19:14 GMT9
The house I moved into this spring has a beautiful magnolia tree in
the back yard but there is essentially no grass under the tree.  It
was a little sunken and I filled with top soil and reseeded with a
shade mix early in the summer.  The grass came in well but then died.
