Apart from the obvious winter pansies, what can you recommend for low- maintenance container gardening this autumn/winter. (Jersey, if that makes any difference: we tend not to get many frosts!)

My wife bought some bulbs while on holiday in the UK, now on her retur to Vietnam she has been told that she must Vernalise them or they won' flower. A quick ask around the bar came up with nothing positive on method

My "to do" list includes a series of raised beds in my backyard for next year. I was going to knock together some 4'x8' beds made out of 2x10 lumber when I received the Lee Valley gardening catalog ( also on the web at www.leevalley.com ).

I have been gardening for about 40 years,but still have problems growing leeks which are very large or which do not go to seed.My allotment is on sandy acid soil and I always add some compost to my leek patch.I plant about six inches apart,and plant in a hole about 8"

I attempted to demonstrate my advanced (or lack of) intelligence today.... I am growing some peppers. Actually, I have about 45 pepper plants, but about 10 of them are these long green peppers. I think they turn red, then you dry them and make ground up hot pepper for aisan ...

Having killed the Moss with weed and feed, a bare patch has now been taken over with an Ants nest and they are pulling all the earth up and spreading it around. HELP. Any suggestions?

We have just moved to a new home that has two fifty-foot eucalyptus trees in the back yard about 20 feet from the house. The area where the trees are is plain dirt that has never been planted/irrigated. The tree roots do not appear above ground.
