madeira plant23 Aug 2008 13:38 GMT10
On a recent trip to Madeira, I was struck by some plants in our hotel
garden.
They have long spearlike leaves with the outer surface of purple colour, and
the inner surface normal green. Our friendly hotel gardener supplied us with

Troubleshooting a sprinkler system23 Aug 2008 02:51 GMT2
My house came with an older sprinkler system.  The control box is a
Rainbird CRC-6.  I used it earlier this summer with no problems.  But
two weeks ago my controller just displays the number "8".  No buttons
work or anything.  I disconnected the power but when I connected it

Potinara Cayenne is Slc Circle of Life x Blc Buttercup 'Bozo' HCC/AOS.  I
got this at Fordyce Orchids in 2005.  Nah. It was probably 2004 and I
repotted it in 2005. http://www.flickr.com/photos/kbarrett/2782471865/

Connecting 3-4 sprinklers to one faucet22 Aug 2008 23:39 GMT13
I am planning to connect 3-4 sprinklers to one faucet via a 4-way
adapter and have one technical question/doubt: The hose connecting the
adapter to the faucet would carry 3-4 times more water than individual
hoses connecting it to sprinklers. What capacity should these hoses be?
Trees and Texas22 Aug 2008 18:48 GMT30
Trees are different in Texas than other parts.  That is why wound dressing
is mandatory to use, tree wrap and wire in a hose are also treatments that
people like Don Staples claim is helpful.  Why not just make a news group
for Texas.  That way they can address their trees.  Its ...
Storing fruit and vegetables with minimal cost22 Aug 2008 16:21 GMT4
We grow vegetables out of enjoyment, but also significantly because we
need to reduce our outgoings. Given the recent rise in food prices and
the rising cost of electricty and gas, I'm interested in whether any
other readers of this newsgroup make use of low-cost solutions to
Thift turning yellow22 Aug 2008 16:08 GMT2

Magnolia question22 Aug 2008 14:17 GMT1
A friend of mine asked this on a forum.
At the bottom of our garden we have a rather large Magnolia tree (not sure
of the real name but it's the one with the large pinky purple tulip type
flowers). I have a lot of my [bird] feeders in this tree and was planning on
Quince22 Aug 2008 10:04 GMT25
I'd like to grow a quince (Cydonia) but not sure whether it'd fruit for
me. I'm in Yorkshire, 400ft above sea level, on clay in a slight frost
pocket.
Any ideas?
Eucalyptus Tree22 Aug 2008 08:50 GMT2
I planted this tree about two years ago at about six feet in height.
It has grown at least three feet and the trunk is much thicker now. Is
it ok for me to remove the supporting stake now please?
How to dig in green manure?22 Aug 2008 08:08 GMT13
I have never grown a green manure before and am not clear, from what I
have read, as to how exactly I should dig in the crop before it reaches
flowering time.
Does 'digging in' simply mean turning the soil over with a fork to
