When to plant fall stuff09 Aug 2008 06:00 GMT2

fall crops? I'm interested in cabbage, brocolli, etc., which take up to 90
days to produce. I'm guessing mid August they should be seeded, and the end
of august for root/green veggies? Anybody that has ...
accelerating tomatoes?09 Aug 2008 04:40 GMT3
We have about a dozen tomato plants (Cherokee Purple, Better Boy, Super
Marmandes, Brandy Boy).  Lots of good-sized tomatoes ... all GREEN.
It's been a wet summer, which I suspect it will continue to be.  And,
we're losing sun anyway.

I hope this is not off topic, and if so, could you please direct me to
What's an allotment?08 Aug 2008 18:16 GMT3
I've seen many folks allude to their "allotment".   Is it like a
community garden in cities in the states, or something else?
Just curious.

Fuchsia ID - new pics08 Aug 2008 10:38 GMT2
I think this is a "Marinka" but would appreciate if someone could please
confirm. It's a very lovely, delicate and slow-growing plant which I've had
for a couple of years and overwintered cut-back in my greenhouse.

On the basis that comfrey and borrage leaves are good for seeping in
water to make a liquid feed, has anyone experimented with seeping
brunnera (perennial forget-me-not) leaves? This may sound ignorant,
but all these plants seem to have similar shaped, large leaves,

They taste fine.  Early in the season they were bitter...very bitter,
but now they taste fine.  Now they are almost white, w/ some streaky
light green.  What causes them to be this color.  I didn't buy a white
cucumber, I got them from lowe's, and they were supposed to be a
