Tree trimming question31 Aug 2008 01:01 GMT6
I have a tall (~60 feet) fir tree next to my house. It has grown to the
point where the branches are starting to touch the side of the house, even
though the base of the tree is ~10 feet from the house. What is the best way
to trim the branches - remove them at the trunk, or just ...
Plant identification30 Aug 2008 23:11 GMT1
I saw this magnificent hanging basket outside a pub recently, it was
stunning, although the picture, from my mobile phone, doesn't do it
justice.
Can anyone tell me what the yellow flowers are? Even I can tell that

Buzy Lizzie disaster30 Aug 2008 15:23 GMT1
Has anyone else had a disaster with Busy Lizzies this 'summer'?
Mine (in tubs) have lost all leaves and flowers and died EXCEPT where they
were smothered by the foliage of other plants in the same tub.
Strawberry leave problem30 Aug 2008 14:12 GMT3
My strawberries in the hanging basket are starting to get a brown dusty look
to them.  When you look at the leaves they are covered both on top and
underneath.  Any idea?  I have taken the leaves off the plant now but was
wondering what it is.
Can anyone identify this tree?30 Aug 2008 12:39 GMT2
Hello, I'm a new member of this group and I wonder if anyone can
identify a tree  which I inherited when we took over our garden 11
years ago. It looked as if it had been there quite a while then, so I
would guess that it's at least 15 years old, maybe considerably more.
Weeds in New Grass30 Aug 2008 03:32 GMT3
I did some new seeding the first part of July.  The grass is up nice and I
did mow it once.  When could I spray some weed killer ?

pepper fruit set is low30 Aug 2008 00:22 GMT11
I have 6 pepper plants growing outside my kitchen window, on the East side
of the house where they are sheltered from the hottest afternoon sun.
While initially I was happy to see quite a few blooms on the plants, I
have since noticed that relatively very few of the more recent ...

This NG has helped a couple of times in the past, so I thought I'd try this
one.

Hibiscus syracus29 Aug 2008 22:30 GMT4
Whilst visiting my wife's elderly Aunt I noticed some different/larger
leaves around the base of the old Hibiscus syracus in her front garden. It's
flowers are white with a red centre (I have it myself having taken a cutting
some years back).
Potato problem29 Aug 2008 22:16 GMT3
I just had to lift all my spuds from their sack because the blight on the
foliage was completely out of hand. I only got a small quantity of spuds
(disappointment 1), but to top it off, some of the spuds have a hard dark
brown 'growth' on them, while the rest have a funny bumpy ...
