Hey Y'all!
Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of fruit flies? The kids and
I were gone for the weekend and left the hubby at home to tend to the

Storm Damage how to heal17 Aug 2008 22:14 GMT5
Should I prune or let it go.  Hail hit and  we have much plant life

Can I freeze tomatoes until I have enough to can a batch?17 Aug 2008 21:33 GMT52
I have some early tomatoes that either need to be eaten or put up, but it's
not really enough to run a canning batch.  I've also got tons of green ones
still on the plants.  I'd like to save the early ones until the green ones
are ripe too.  How about freezing the ripe ones until ...
Another wasp nest17 Aug 2008 20:29 GMT8
Those German wasps are prolific little blighters!  We found several were
coming into the tea room and its garden and the nest was rapidly tracked
down to our log shelter.  That's mere yards, as the wasp flies, from the
nest found earlier.  One of the dogs was stung over the eye ...
tomato cuttings?17 Aug 2008 18:53 GMT8
OK, there was a thread on this last year, but I'm not sure we got
closure on it.
What's the most effective way to do tomato cuttings? I took six inch
young stems off a very healthy overgrown red cherry, and stuck them
Mushrooms that look like Brains??17 Aug 2008 17:17 GMT6
I have some mushrooms growing on my front lawn.  Not the usual kind
that look like the ones you'd put on pizza, (they LOOK like those).
These mushrooms look like brains, (really!)
I dig them up, and they take divots out of my lawn that are 6" deep.

English walnuts17 Aug 2008 13:02 GMT4
I've had English walnut trees for years but seldom get nuts.  Now I
have a few that I managed to rescue from the squirrels and have husked
them.  Nuts look fully formed but nutmeat is soft and somewhat
bitter.  Question I have, is will they become more edible on drying
Basic Plant Care Advice17 Aug 2008 12:09 GMT1
Can anyone recommend a good general website which will give me advice as to
year-round care of plants in my garden (Perennial shrubs etc). I never know
which ones to cut back (or when) and which to leave. I giuess it's a kind of
idiot's guide i'm looking for!
How many trusses on tomatoes?17 Aug 2008 10:46 GMT3
generally instructions for growing tomatoes tell you to stop the plant
after the fourth truss.
In the past I have seen plants in late August in a nice warm greenhouse
with no leaves and the last few tomatoes ripening on the fourth truss.

This year seems to be worse than last, growing annuals from seed I am
constantly trying to weed within a couple of centimetres from plants without
