Wasps nesting inside partition wall24 Jul 2008 23:17 GMT20
I just noticed that wasps appear to be nesting insdie a partition wall here-
getting access via an airbrick about 2m above ground level. There is a lot of
activity- I don't know how long they have been there. I have read that by the
end of the year a wasps nest in the ground or ...

continue to water?  Would this be a good time to get some compost and
top-dress the lawn?
Saw my first Kindle24 Jul 2008 21:40 GMT1
A friend's wife brought her Kindle to our club's orchid nursery trip, just
so she'd have something to do while her husband was orchid shopping.  I have
to say these things look great and am tempted to get one.  I have to
constanly remind myself that I'm on Audible because I like ...
peas that will not climb24 Jul 2008 20:45 GMT2
Not being one to go in the car to buy bamboo poles flown in from the far
east I made a little wigwam for my peas out of some tall woody shoots from a
thicket in the graveyard across the road. The peas have refused to touch
them. I have tried tieing the tendrils to them and they ...
What Good is Weedol?24 Jul 2008 20:34 GMT2
For about half a dozen years I have had a box of sachets

clean it with weed killer.  Read the instructions on the

I've caught two robins today eating our grapes and current tomatoes.

Do carnations  lose their scent?24 Jul 2008 15:06 GMT2
I love carnations (dianthus). The first year that I plant, they smell
gorgeous; but I've noticed that the scent seems to disappear with age, even
though the blooms are just as prolific -- anyone else notice this, with
carnations or other highly scented blooms, or is it just too much ...
Gardening with possums24 Jul 2008 14:52 GMT8
I'm trying to get a bit of a garden going and for the first time have to
deal with possums. I'm looking for plants that have low appeal to possums
and that don't require lots of attention or water. Any ideas?
