Lining a large wooden planter / trough08 Jul 2008 18:05 GMT5
Hi, I have bought a large wooden trough (150cm). It's well made, but
rather than having draining holes at the bottom there are just 2 gaps (1
to 2 cm wide) running the length of the trough between the planks of wood.
How should I line this please? I was thinking of some chicken ...
Allotment Site inspection08 Jul 2008 17:05 GMT6
Just a query for those with council, or indeed other plots. How often
are plots inspected by 'the powers that be'.  Our plots have been
inspected once a year up until now. It will change to quarterly
inspections as well as increased rent.

I have just moved to a new house which has lots of trees .  It is clear I am
going to need to invest in a garden vacuum/blower, but I have no idea what
to look for except I want an electric one.
I read a couple of reviews about the black and decker one which said that

Cat poo08 Jul 2008 11:02 GMT6
Is cat poo good or bad for the garden? Just spotted one of next door's cats
having a dump (away from plants and he has tried to bury it, bless him). I
know it doesn't do lawns much good, based on a neighbour who used to live
across the road and kept blaming my cat (all cats look ...
Echium candicans (syn. E. fastuosum)08 Jul 2008 10:11 GMT3
I've just bought a couple of these (I was intending to grow some from
seed but Crocus had decent-sized plants discounted to £3.50 each and I
couldn't resist) and would be grateful for some advice as to whether I
can treat them as hardy in my London garden.  One problem is that my

Disease of Sweet Pepper07 Jul 2008 21:55 GMT2
I have a sweet pepper in a pot in the conservatory.  Some of the leaves
of the plant are going a blotchy yellow.  There are aphids present on
the plant, but I feel that maybe the leaf discoloration is a separate
issue.    Can anyone advise me on this?  Thanks,
My aptenia is dying07 Jul 2008 21:54 GMT1
Southern California Zone 10. We have a 90x40 patch of aptenia iceplant.
Until a few weeks ago, it was verdant and lush. The ground is flat..
In the last several weeks, the aptenia iceplant developed blotches of dying
stems and leaves. The stems of some plants get hard and shrivel, ...

Pullin' weeds07 Jul 2008 21:37 GMT26
On average, how much time would you say you devote per week pulling weeds
from the garden?  I say per week, rather than per day because I used to pull
weeds on the farm - but I don't live on a farm anymore and I'm certainly not
going to devote 10 hours a day doing it.
