Please identify this beautiful tree01 Jun 2008 19:24 GMT1
I have seen this beautiful tree many times this Spring and love th
flowers. They smell very fresh and powdery.
It has red and green leaves and has strings of small creamy-whit
flower that tend to bunch. They can grow quite tall and from what
Joe Swift01 Jun 2008 19:01 GMT14
I was interested in Joe's new allotment.  It was good that he did not
know too much about veg growing before.  Many people who take on
allotments have not grown veg before, so he learns as he goes as
others do.
Radish Problem: All leaves no radishes01 Jun 2008 18:24 GMT4
I sowed seed directly in to compost in big pots well over a month ago,
but the plants have only produced a profusion of leaves and no radish.
They have also started to produce flower buds too! What have I done
wrong? Is it perhaps that I didn't thin them out enough?

Ornithology and Gardening01 Jun 2008 15:02 GMT5
Just looking to get trees pruned and a fence put up so decided to take the
bird box down first.
The hole has been over enlarged so we haven't had any visitors there for a
while.
Replacing lawn and garden path01 Jun 2008 13:13 GMT22
We've already taken up our path and we're planning to take up the lawn.
Basically we're wanting a blank canvas.  My girlfriend is keen on getting
professionals in to finish the job and I'm keen on not spending loads of
money unnecessarily.  I just wanted to ask the assembled ...
White Flies in Compost01 Jun 2008 12:36 GMT3
Post 2 today!
Lifting the lid on our compost bin results in a massive cloud of small white
flies engulfing the innocent.
Anyone know what they are and how to reduce the numbers without killing
black spots on my tomato leaves01 Jun 2008 10:31 GMT8
Just got back into gardening after many years of not bothering and grow
my own tomato plants from seeds I probably put them outside a bit to
early (two weeks ago) now I notice the lower leaves have black spots o
them and not looking very good.
weed killers01 Jun 2008 10:01 GMT4
I don't know anything about weed killers so I've been reading a few
bottle labels. It seems that there are two types: one that kills
everything above ground and those that kill everything above and below
ground. The problem with the former seems to be that with the roots
Tomato feeding01 Jun 2008 07:19 GMT3
I have several tomato plants in the greenhouse, Gardeners Delight
Shirley F1 and Striped Roman.
My liquid tomato food says to start feeding once the first truss ha
set. What exactly does "set" mean ? - Gone red ? Flower died off ? an
Slightly off target.01 Jun 2008 06:07 GMT1
For us new types to the orchid fascination, it would be wonderful if the
people with greenhouses would paste a couple of pictures of their
greenhouses on alt.binaries.pictures.com. We, who are having visions of
grandeur of some day having a structure would really appreciate it.
Is this plant a friend or foe to my lawn?01 Jun 2008 02:49 GMT4
I noticed a certain plant growing on my lawn this year that I haven't
seen before. I took a couple of pictures. Can someone tell me if I
have something to worry about. Right now they are growing in a spot
where I find it tough to grow grass and they aren't really noticeable
