Clingfilm for grafting?28 Jun 2008 18:56 GMT2
I have some grafting to do. Would clingfilm be a suitable material for
wrapping the grafts? It's available in the shops, though in rather
wide rolls, really I would prefer a roll about 3" wide, the material I
want to graft is quite small. I can't FORESEE any problems, but it's a

Gooseberry cutting28 Jun 2008 16:17 GMT4
I've been given a hardwood cutting and don't know what to do with it. I've
stuck it in the edge of an unglazed clay pot in potting compost but have no
idea if that was right or if it will strike.
Not that I need a gooseberry bush but it would have been churlish to refuse

do you virus test plants you sell?  do you sterilize tools you use
between plants?  do you use latex gloves?  how "sterile" is your
technique for handling your plants?

Superthrive28 Jun 2008 13:16 GMT5
Just thought I'd share something with the group. I've had some of this stuff
for a while, but never did use it. That changed this year.
When we (yes, *we* - I am so fortunate that Frank really helps!) began to
repot earlier this year, I decided to start a Superthrive regimen. As ...

Favourite peas28 Jun 2008 09:53 GMT11
I grow quite a lot of peas, and try to select those which have a very
good flavour as well as giving a reasonable crop. This is my experience
over the last few years and would welcome comment. The heights I quote

Help! Forget me not!28 Jun 2008 08:52 GMT5
I've sown forget me nots and recently pricked them out into plugs, but they
have to move on in another month. The borders I want them for are of course
packed full. Do they just sit in the plugs until October?
evergreen climbers for greenhouse27 Jun 2008 23:32 GMT16
Two identical evergreen climbers were put in the greenhouse last autumn
while we had the exterior of the house (to which they had been clinging)
renovated . . . and unfortunately they haven't survived.  I don't know
what they were.  Another sad story.  I think it was the heat some ...
