leaves turning yellow on sycamore10 Jun 2008 22:50 GMT21
I had 3 sycamores planted last fall.  All three came to life wonderfully
this spring and were doing great up until this week.  Now the leaves of one
of them are turning yellow with something of a mottled appearance.  There
are still plenty of green leaves but this came on quickly.  ...
1st cut for newly seeded lawn - what Mower Type?10 Jun 2008 22:48 GMT9
Well, I am at that point where the first cut is required, and I don'
want to pull up the grass shoots, so what mower type is needed?
recall seeing a thread that detailed a rotary mower, but from my POV
all mower types are rotary; whether the rotary motion is vertical o

Will urine damage grass?  I seem to remember reading that urine is a good
fertiliser ?

PVC watering roses10 Jun 2008 20:58 GMT17
Having gone through a lot to de-weed a rosebed, I decided
no longer to  water the whole bed, just the roses, to discourage
weeds.
So I bought a length of narrow PVC at Home Despot, plus plastic end

Confused about pruning azaleas and rhodies10 Jun 2008 15:46 GMT10
I have a handout from the American Rhododendron Society that
says the best time to prune rhodies and azaleas is in the spring,
just after flowering. Makes perfect sense to me, but the plants
aren't cooperating. :-)
Planting in a Mound10 Jun 2008 15:20 GMT4
My wife and I recently returned from a vacation that took us to
Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Washington DC.  While there, I noticed that
many trees and shrubs are planted on top of small mounds (about 2-3 ft
in diameter and 1-2 ft high for a shrub, larger for a tree).
forgot to water small potted maple; is it dead?10 Jun 2008 15:19 GMT4
Have a small maple in a garden pot; tree is perhaps 2.5 feet tall.
tree is at least 4 years old, but stunted due to pot size.  tree
needed to be transplanted, but i forgot to water it after its leaves
had fully opened this year.  the leaves are dead except for a very few
Recommendations for big diesel ride on mowers?10 Jun 2008 12:32 GMT4
My old Iseki SG15 has done sterling service over 16 years, but is now
approaching the stage where further expense on it is probably uneconomic. I
need something DIESEL, minimum 48 inch cut, MUST collect the cuttings and
work well on damp grass, without the chute getting blocked up ...

I purchased a Cub Cadet Mower here in Northern Ohio in 2003 , was told by
dealer that I shouldn't use gas with ALCOHOL , been having a little erratic
run problem lately , looks like most of the Stations east of Cleveland are
selling Gas with 10% Alcohol , also have a generator ...
Learning good manners from an expert10 Jun 2008 03:13 GMT2
Perhaps in the future you'll be more careful of what drivel you post
to usenet, because you cannot prevent anyone from reading your posts
and replying however they see fit.  Maybe usenet is not for you, it's
obvious you are not receptive to ****constructive criticism.****
Irrigating from High Water Table10 Jun 2008 03:10 GMT2
Greeting from Southern California:
I am interested in extracting water from a water table that i
less than 15' deep.  I know the depth of the water table as I recentl
dug a trench to install a sewer pipe.  There was so much water that w
Growing kale in pots10 Jun 2008 01:56 GMT6
Last year I grew about fifteen Lacinato or
Dinosaur kale plants in 16" pots and had a good
crop. I ate them regularly 3-4 times/week for
about 9 months.
Water Gel09 Jun 2008 23:37 GMT1
Any  thoughts on 'over using' water gel granules in hanging baskets, any
downside on using lots, (except for the cost)
This year have experimented, have seven 18" baskets, and those in the sun I
have used three times the recommended dose, south facing  wall, watered twice
