2 stroke hedge cutter problem11 Jun 2008 21:58 GMT10
I have a hedge cutter with a 2 stroke Kawasaki engine which starts but wont
run. It fires on the first pull, runs briefly then stops. If I remove the
spark plug the cylinder is flooded with fuel. I would like to fit new seals
and diaphragm to the carb, trouble is I can't find a ...
moisture meters?11 Jun 2008 21:54 GMT2
has anyone here in the group had any experience with those gizmos that you
stick in the ground to measure the moisture content 6 or 8 inches down? Do
they work? The ones I see seem pretty cheap; does that mean they're crap?
Chas
Bummed  - what the heck happened11 Jun 2008 21:05 GMT6
Potted up a small container (coir lined basket actually) with a sun tolerant
coleus, a million bells and some zinnias (the colors worked) late last week.
They looked fine until Monday when the heat wave really hit - now they are
crisped to less than an inch of their lives. I figure ...
Which end of seed goes into ground first?11 Jun 2008 17:33 GMT9
Kinda dumb question, but with large seeds such as zucchinis, does it make a
difference which end goes in the ground first? I know the plant will correct
itself, but was wondering if it could be helped along by putting the 'right'
end in the ground.
Identification of Free standing plant holder11 Jun 2008 17:21 GMT9
The base of a plant holder, which is all plastic,  at my bowling club
has been damaged and I would like to replace it.  An extensive search of
Google Images was unsuccessful in identifying it,  neither can I find it
anywhere else.
What is the cost of tomatoes?11 Jun 2008 15:30 GMT2
I live in South Houston, next to Pasadena & Houston and yesterday I went in
my neighborhood grocery store and saw where the tomatoes went from 50 cents
a pound now to $2 a pound.
The ones still on the vine.
Upside Down Tomatoes in Paint Buckets is a Bust!11 Jun 2008 13:33 GMT5
I followed all the directions of various people on the Internet and
tried growing tomatoes in 5 gal plastic buckets. In every case the
plants grew and when the flowers appeared they wilted and died. I
saved one by transplanting in a garden.
Clematis11 Jun 2008 11:50 GMT10
Just moved into a new house and there is a small - big enough to sit out
with a plastic garden table and chairs - balcony outside our bedroom.
The sides of the balcony are covered by a Clematis which is growing from
ground level and has a trunk as thick as a small tree. It had ...
which Spiraea is this?11 Jun 2008 11:13 GMT1
I've passed this Spiraea this morning. I'm guessing that it's Spiraea
nipponica. Would anyone care to confirm, or suggest another
identification?

Weed/Plant identification.11 Jun 2008 09:47 GMT18
Would someone kindly identify this weed/plant for me.
It is about 18" tall, has leaves very similar to those of a foxglove and
at first sight it could easily be mistaken for a foxglove.  Its flowers
are almost identical to those of a Lithodora 'Heavenly Blue'.

tree id request10 Jun 2008 23:36 GMT3
Yesterday I passed a flowering tree alongside a country road. I'm
assuming it was planted - some of the other trees there, such as
large-leaved limes would have been planted.
It's not a tree I recognise, but it looks as if it belongs to family
