ID this small reviving conifer, please?19 Jun 2008 20:44 GMT2
When we moved in to this house a year ago we found the previous owners
had discarded this potted conifer over the back fence.  It had one or
two signs of life on it so while we got on with other things we put it
in a shaded part of the garden and have kept it well watered over the

Bird feeding observations19 Jun 2008 19:41 GMT15
Having said that the peanut feeder was being ignored I now have to say that
the last three days have seen coal tits (four at a time) green finches and
blue tits going at it like gangbusters.  The seed feeders are still being
used but not to the same extent as just a few days ago.  I ...

binding reel mower19 Jun 2008 18:35 GMT4
I would greatly appreciate some help on this issue.
I was recently given a Mclean 20' 5 blade 3.5HP reel mower. I am
totally new to reel mowers but love the idea of them.  I am sick of
the "crop circles" in my lawn from my rotary mower.

months on a couple of bare plots in my front and back yards.  The

found all over my neighborhood.
Damaged Pieris19 Jun 2008 16:34 GMT5
Someone/one has broken a couple of 'branches' from my small pieris which is
next to the footpath. I'm very fond of this plant. It's shape is spoilt but
it will recover.
My question is, is there any chance of striking roots from the broken bits?

When the flower finally gives up, do you cut off the flower stem or just
leave it alone. It has already started a new flower stem.
This from a newby who has searched the internet and cannot find an answer.

A friend of mine was recently over from Australia and commented on how
soft, yet strong the grass in the wild is, and that she had never seen
buttercups nor daisies!  So, now that she is home, I would love to
