| Bringing in tomato plants | 01 Nov 2007 00:05 GMT | 4 |
I have. here, read casual references to "bringing in tomato plants". This year, I have a zillion volunteer tomato plants, mostly the cherry varieties. Can I bring any of them indoors, treat them like sun- loving house plants and expect any of them to bear useful fruit?

I can't seem to identify this plant using the web alone. Thought I would get some human helpers for me! Here are some pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/marc0047/Misc/photo#5127580671304645282 http://picasaweb.google.com/marc0047/Misc/photo#5127582114413656754

| Heliconia | 31 Oct 2007 17:29 GMT | 4 |
Can anyone ID this Heliconia for us? It was given to Ray by our doctor but he had no idea of its full name. The leaves are those of a Salvia, not the Heliconia, BTW! http://i20.tinypic.com/2nid1f9.jpg

Yesterday I picked runner beans and also Peas, and if the frost holds off I should be picking for another couple of weeks. Both the peas and beans have a few flowers on them , but I hold out no hope of picking for Xmas day.

| Start of a new season..... | 31 Oct 2007 14:50 GMT | 14 |
It's very uplifting - we're already pricking out seedlings for next year and it does give you that lovely feeling of the continuous cycle of nature. I did several trays of hollyhocks and Centaurea and Ray took quite a few cuttings of this and that. While yesterday was truly awful, ...

Here's another Ray can't remember the full name of, if he ever knew it. He *thinks* David Poole might have id'd it at some point but if so, it's obviously floated out of Ray's head! It's very rare in UK is all we know! http://i22.tinypic.com/s42806.jpg

| Norfolk Island Pine Tree Getting to Big | 31 Oct 2007 05:59 GMT | 14 |
I have a Norfolk Island Pine Tree in a lagre Pot. I live in New England so I need to keep the tree in the house during winter. I have had this for 30 years. My wife gave it to me when we were dating. A lot of sentimental value. Anyway, it is getting too tall to handle .

| Mole Problem | 31 Oct 2007 04:05 GMT | 15 |
I live in North Carolina and have a mostly Fescue lawn. I have a bad mole problem. I have raised up ridges in a lot of my yard. I have looked at the mole "repellents" in Lowe's and Home Depot. They are all Castor Oil. I have also been told by a gentleman at Ace hardware that in NC ...

| Kale going to seed | 31 Oct 2007 02:57 GMT | 4 |
My curly kale has done great service for over two years, this is its third spring. Now it is going to seed which it hasn't done before. Most brassicas go to seed in their first year. Why is kale different? Why now? David

| Winter citrus prep | 31 Oct 2007 02:54 GMT | 2 |
This is my first winter with a citrus tree - a grapefruit, to be precise. It currently is hosting a swallowtail caterpillar (hopefully THAT will pupate soon and subsequently fly south!). I presume that at some point I need to winterproof the grapefruit, but how?

| Lawn Dilemma | 31 Oct 2007 00:37 GMT | 5 |
Due to construction projects on two consecutive years, my lawn is a complete disaster. Because I didn't want to start grass in the middle of the summer, large portions of the lawn were left bare this year. Of course these areas ended up infested with crab grass. I put some
