Raised bed sizes for climbers.01 Oct 2007 00:52 GMT9

grass that still remains. The garden is really tiny, about 12 foot by

I've always wanted a big garden for as long as I can remember :) But
I've literally just got my first flat with my boyfriend.
Does anyone have any creative ideas for the balcony? It's really not
big at all, I have a low budget and limited space.

I planted about 10 Scots Pines about 4 years ago  (1ft high bare root) ...
they are now about 4ft high and were doing OK ....
About 10 days ago I noticed that the needles on one of them were going
yellow - mainly the needles on the main trunk. If I touch these, they fall

leaving parsnips in the ground30 Sep 2007 17:07 GMT5
my ancient gardening book suggests leaving parsnips where they're
growing until required unless one can arrange for equally damp and cool
storage elsewhere. Does anyone do this? If so, does one have to do
anything, like remove the leaves?

Is there ANY way to plant cut roses?30 Sep 2007 12:23 GMT1
I am not sure if they were grown in a green house or fresh cut but
they are beautiful and special to me and would love to try to plant

Tomatoes in Melb30 Sep 2007 10:03 GMT3
I was wondering if it's too early to plant tomato seedlings? The weather is
still unpredictable but we don't get many frosts here even in winter.
Also how far away should I plant them from where they were last time. Is a
foot or two enough?

formed with about 5 small leafets on each.
What's up with my basil?30 Sep 2007 06:06 GMT1
It's trying to flower, and I keep picking them off.
I bought the plant over 6 weeks ago, and haven't been eating off of it
much.  The leaves are a lighter green that what I see in the store, and
it tastes more like anise or fennel that what I remember basil to be like.
