Chipper / Shredders31 Jul 2007 23:37 GMT3
Well, Fall is coming and I want to be sure I wont get caught in
between huge mountain of leaves in my yard. I have about 1 acre of
land here in Arkansas with about maybe 10 to 15 trees on the back of
this land. I'm thinking of buying a chipper shredder (I'm outdoors fan

A few basic questions from a relative newbie if I may:
Should "Tender Green" french beans need supporting?
Should the above produce curly or straight(ish) beans (mine are distinctly
curly).

Tomatillo trailblazer seeks similar to share experience31 Jul 2007 22:52 GMT4
I found this interesting-looking packet of seeds back in early spring and
decided to give them a go in my newly-acquired greenhouse. Treat like
tomatoes, it said, so I have, and they have rewarded me by growing into
tall leggy plants with an amazing propensity to make flowers and an ...

Need to do some serious weeding and want to use something that will be
neutralised once it hits the soil - need to plant in around three months.
Have tried the organic way of hand weeding, digging etc on my new allotment

Could I plant some now, on the North California coast, and expect anything?
Insect identification: "jumping eggs" in the Sacramento Valley31 Jul 2007 18:31 GMT10
A friend of mine has asked me to help her identify something she found
in her garden this week.  She noticed that the soil under one of her
plants appeared to be moving.  When she looked closer, she found a
large number of small, light-colored things, the size of a poppy seed

Hey y'all,
My mom & dad (step) are permanently moving to their "retirement" home at
the beach this winter. By at the beach, I mean right across the road
from the ocean bay, between jacksonville & wilmington, nc.
Should I use dynamite?31 Jul 2007 17:56 GMT4
Three years ago, I had to cut down a 30 year old olive tree. It was all
burled and knurled at the foot of the truck. I must have sprayed the stump
and the regularly appearing shoots with Roundup, at least once a month. I
covered it up with dirt and a big boulder. No luck, the new ...

I'm trying to figure out what type of underground pest I have
destroying my lawn--completely destroying it! All I've been doing
lately is to wake each morning and see the new soil mound.
At first I thought it was a golpher, then maybe a mole. But when I

Why do ripe fruits - especially when canned - smell bad?31 Jul 2007 17:30 GMT45
I notice that many fruits [excluding apples] emit foul odors when
ripe. What chemicals are responsible for this? I've done as much
research as I can on this but not gotten anywhere. This isn't a
homework assignment. I am asking these questions out of personal
"Bird House" gourds31 Jul 2007 17:15 GMT1
"Bird House" gourds must be the Godzillas of the cucurbit family. Mine
(1) has gone nuts and I have been pruning it to keep it from hogging the
entire 7' X 7' trellis. Has anybody else experienced this? It is inches
from a kumquat tree and I presume from it's previous behavior, ...
