Bamboo04 Apr 2007 16:07 GMT26
Hi I'm new to this group. We have over a acre of land and I'd like to
plant bamboo along a fence line. Does anyone have bamboo they don't
want or know of a place I can buy it. Any other ideas for screening a
fence line will be appreciated. Thanks Diana

Worm farms to require licences04 Apr 2007 15:08 GMT3
The Animal Welfare Act 2006 gives the government the powers to extend
it to cover worm farms, to require them to have licences, and to
require them to be covered with turf, a sprinkling system and an
artificial moon (for romantic purposes).  Yes, really.
Strimmer ( Spear and Jackson)04 Apr 2007 14:19 GMT2
I see Argos have one of these for approx £80. I  am in the market for a
secondary strimmer and it will be used for only light work( ie edging
etc...I will leave the heavy stuff for my large strimmer).
Just wondering has anyone any experience of it and would they recomend one.
Looking for recommendation on lawnmower repair in Wake Forest area.04 Apr 2007 12:21 GMT4
My riding mower has decided that it no longer wants to start,
even with a fully charged battery.
I suspect that one of the dead man switches died.
It's also due for a spring tune up, blade sharpening, etc, etc...
GA100 Shredder Help Please!04 Apr 2007 08:06 GMT5
I wonder if someone can help me with advice on the repair of a
Black&Decker GA100 Garden Shredder?
The top bearing in the electric motor has broken and needs replacing.
It would appear that some spares are still available in the UK. I have
Water supply pipe, diameter and flow drop?04 Apr 2007 07:49 GMT2
I want to run a water supply from the house 3/4 inch riser to a piece of
additional land we have bought, a distance of some 100 or so metres. I
don't want a big flow drop, what sort of diameter pipe should I use
(thinking alkathene type pipe here), and where is the cheapest place to
another test, sorry04 Apr 2007 05:42 GMT2

Freesias04 Apr 2007 02:26 GMT1
Good Morning All
I brought some freesia bulbs and planted them back in september.  With the
warm weather, one tried to grow but then the weather changed and none at all
grew.  I still have the half green leaf that was there from before xmas but
Rased vegetable beds03 Apr 2007 20:44 GMT9
I want to put two raised vegetable beds in my garden.  One will be
1.80m X .70cm and the smaller will be 1.1m X 60cm.
I would be grateful for any ideas from this NG as to the best materials to
use, and any tips.  Thanks.

Broad beans flowering already!?03 Apr 2007 18:57 GMT4
My broad beans, sowed last autumn, are nice sturdy young plants now.
However, most of them have already started to flower, despite them being no
more than 12" tall, and it being no less than about 3 months early! Has
anyone else encountered this problem (if indeed it is a problem)? ...
grafting roses, etc.03 Apr 2007 17:58 GMT5
I'd like to ask- my grandfather did a lot of grafting, and I would
watch him. He used to dip the end of the part he was grafting into
some white powdery stuff he got at the nursery.  This was in the early
1960's. He told me what it was, but of course, I can't remember.  He
Twiggy Pea Sticks03 Apr 2007 16:38 GMT8
This is probably a daft question, but ...    The advice is to support peas
with "twiggy pea sticks".  I have no trees and no suitable shrubs in my
garden to cut any "twiggy pea sticks".  Are these things available (cheap)
in the garden centres, or do I have to roam the ...
weedkiller concerns03 Apr 2007 13:29 GMT15
Yesterday Croydon Council sub-contractors came and sprayed weedkiller
outside my front door, on the paving slabs. This is despite my asking
them not to and having a notice on the outside of my front door DO NOT
SPRAY WEEDKILLER ANYWHERE NEAR THIS GARDEN. I am concerned about run-
