I recall that there was a thread a while back on using CO2 to get rid of
scale and other insect pests. The idea was to put the plant in a 100%
CO2 atmosphere for some length of time. The insects, being animals and
needing oxygen, would die.

For the first time I am trying a black polythene mulch of 1m squared around
the base of a young fruit tree, as recommended to warm soil and suppress
weeds. (the tree is on a 25 degree slope)

I just discovered an interesting feature on google.groups where you can look
at the profile of a poster and see how much he/she is posting and where.  At

I was at Staples last night getting some stuff for my office when I noticed
a nice little brush for cleaning computer keyboards.  It's nylon and soft

i dug up my first patch of potatoes today. not sure how i went. about 1/4
have (what i assume is) scab. the others look good (if a little
peculiarly-shaped :-) but i mainly have humungous ones & little ones. is
there any good way to get more medium ones?!
