Light levels and plants28 Jun 2005 21:57 GMT17
I seem to be confused about the terms describing light levels. Perhaps
someone can help me with that? The generally used terms are "full sun",
"partial shade" and "full shade". I thought that "full sun" means that
the plant receives direct sunlight for the whole day, "full shade" ...
Sweet Peppers wilting stunted28 Jun 2005 21:50 GMT2
man I always have problems with sweet peppers, can grow everything else
but peppers are always a problem. Anyway, my peppers were going great
until the bottom leaves starting falling off, now only the tops are
left, they are brown at the edges, at the middles,  you name it. Only a
Cacti28 Jun 2005 21:30 GMT2
Frequently I find that my cacti seem to suffer from looking ill. Instead of
being bright green they get a yellow look, and yet any offshoots grow
without this appearance. The main original stems of prickly pears often
become yellowed, and even flaccid as well, whereas their ...
brown lawn28 Jun 2005 21:18 GMT3
In April my lawn looked like a green healthy carpet.  I'm using
the Scott plan and put down the turf builder and also grub control.
For the last several months my lawn has large areas of brown dry
spots.  Can anyone help me with what caused the significant
Mower oil overfill28 Jun 2005 21:11 GMT8
My son just called and said his lawn mower is smoking badly.  I'm
positive he over-filled the crankcase with oil since he claimed he put
in an entire quart.  My experience is that most mower take far less
than that but he said he couldn't see it so he kept adding.  He's going
Pest identification?28 Jun 2005 20:56 GMT8
I'm a novice gardener, and this year I find that my garden seems to
have attracted a lot of troublesome insects. Does anyone know a web
site where I can see examples of pest damage, so I can identify the
culprits?
Berm Plantings28 Jun 2005 20:53 GMT2
I have a 500 foot long berm I need to cover that averages 4 ft high.  I can
get to the top with my riding mower but the sides are too steep and require
a push mower or trimmer.  Any suggestions on low growing ornamental grasses
or plants that will not take over, are attractive, ...
sealant for oak barrel fountain?28 Jun 2005 19:58 GMT3
I have a couple of oak barrel fountains and I have inserted the molded
plastic liners to keep them from leaking.  These work great, but I
don't like the way look, I would like to find a flexible sealant that I
can brush or spray on the inside of the barrel.  There is a catch;  I
Still No Tomatoes28 Jun 2005 19:56 GMT18
Still no tomatoes here in Pittsburgh. I have plants in pots, in EARTHBOXES
and in the ground. All the plants look VERY healthy and have flowered. But
no tomatoes. The flowers seem to not be setting. Even the ones I sprayed
with BLOSSOM SET stuff that someone recommended that I ...
Garden Plants Stay Small?28 Jun 2005 19:38 GMT14
Hello. Quick question here. Scenario is new garden plot, "new" dirt mix.
Vegetable plants in there will remain very small. Some will never grow and
stay the same size for weeks. Some will even produce flowers, even if the
plant size is small. On certain plants, the leaves will ...

New gardener - french lavender stopped flowering already?28 Jun 2005 19:05 GMT3
Can anyone advise?
A couple of months ago I bought a gorgeous full flowering french
lavender (papillon?) from my local garden centre but all the flowers
have now died. I thought it was meant to last the summer?
Commercial, sort of ... 28 Jun 2005 18:57 GMT2
I hesitated to post this here, but didn't want to see "Whatever happened to
Jumo Beach Orchids?" posts  ... Our website may have some down time for the
next couple of days as it "propagates" to a new hosting service.  E-mail
should not be affected.  Thanks,
Bushes / hedging to plant now ?28 Jun 2005 18:44 GMT1
I know it's a bit late but would it be worthwhile planting a couple of
shrubs of Euonymus so I may have a small hedge by the end of the summer
? Or is there a better alternative ? I'm basically looking to form a
screen on the back of a patch which leads to a basement floor flat.
