Gable vents -- wind, rain, and heat29 Nov 2006 10:25 GMT5
Hi, folks,
About once every year or so, when the wind blows just right, I can get
water dripping from the tops of two window frames in my house.  These
two windows are located directly beneath gable vents in my attic.
reversing swing of prehung door29 Nov 2006 07:27 GMT4
My shed was built a few months ago with a prehung door that swings into
the shed. I would like to reinstall the door to swing out. I would
replace the hinges to prevent the pin from being removed. I've read
other discussion describing how to do this between house and garage
Central air unit air flow noise problem29 Nov 2006 00:26 GMT3
I have a 5 ton TRAIN heating/cooling unit. The duct work in my 32 year
old house is steel. When the system comes on, the noise from the air
flow is so loud that we can't hear the TV unless we increase the volume.
Besides, its very annoying. (All the registers are open)
Question: How To Stretch Lifespan of  Tin Roofing28 Nov 2006 19:03 GMT5
I'm looking for ideas on how to prolong the life of a tin roof on a house.
The neighbors told me it was put on approximately 15-17 years ago.  There
are multiple places where the top layer--nickel?  galv??-- has worn off and
the material underneath is now rusting through.
best method for removing thinset?28 Nov 2006 14:37 GMT3
Am replacing about 100sqft of ceramic tile in an investment property I
purchased. I used an air chisel with a 1" wide set to remove the tile. I now
have the task of removing the thinset from the concrete. I could use the air
chisel but it tends to leave divets in the slab no ...
Advice needed regarding split entry expansion.28 Nov 2006 13:28 GMT1
Has anybody ever seen a split entry that had been expanded in some way
and that it actually looked good ? I live in a fairly new split on a
beautiful country lot, 2+ acres and we really do not want to move just
to get more space but we REALLY need more space.
Well Mystery28 Nov 2006 03:55 GMT18
I have a new well and an old well.  The old well is perfectly drinkable
but low production.  When I drink from the new well, 250' away, I
suffer intestinal tenderness and bloating, which goes away a few days
after I stop drinking this water.  I sterilized the new well and
Basement remodelling - moisture questions28 Nov 2006 01:03 GMT2
I am in the process of remodelling our basement.  Our home is about 2
yrs old.  I did not think that I had a moisture problem, except that on
occasion, leaves would plug up the footing drain in a window well and
water would come in the window.  So I am going to address this issue

actually measures 2 inches in diameter. I see in the home improvement
New concrete floor26 Nov 2006 18:46 GMT7
I am just about finished digging out my barn floor.

My question is at what level/order do I place the polystyrene insulation and
Does anyone make 2 x 8  I-Joists?26 Nov 2006 17:23 GMT3
I want to build a "Room in a room" for my home theater, but the Ceiling
spans call for 2 x 8's at a minimum.  I am hoping that someone makes a 2x8
I-joist as they will be MUCH lighter and easier to work with.  I don't have
the ceiling (original) height  to go much more than 2x8.
