Where can I learn how to apply texutred stucco? The kind which is common in FL and CA homes which is apparently created by smearing "blobs" of stucco finish. I tried a little of this and it didn't work out at all like I would hope.

My house was built in 1900. The basement floor appears to be lees the 1 inch thick. You can break it apart using a hammer. The basement is about 1000 sf. How much would it cost to have this dug up and have a new 3 or 4 inch slab pouted. I live in the Denver area.

What is the formula to figure out how many cement blocks are needed for a wall foundation etc? I'm sure this has been asked before but don't remember seeing it. Also Goggle gave no results. Thanks for any help. Muff

I am looking to replace a column from under my porch. The only website I found shows how to make a hollow column. Why would a column not be build from a solid piece of wood instead of (for example) 4 "planks". If anybody knows of a good website it would be greatly appriciated.

So, the painting contractor we hired says that before painting the exterior walls of our 100 year old home, we should go through and install these 2" vents in the outside wall. One high, one low between every other stud, to allow moisture to evaporate from inside the walls.
