Any problems with putting hinges on the front of gate posts (in contrast to the sides) for more clearance? Tradeoffs? I am using 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" galvanized steel on one side and 3" x 3" galvanized steel on the other side for posts.

I'm having a slab poured and had a plumber rough in my 3 sinks and one toilet. All that is roughed in is a 4" to 3" 90 sticking straight up, exactly where the toilet goes and then the three sinks, that are tied to it after the bend. My question is how is this going to be vented. ...

I have a customer who has a roll roof over her back porch which is leaking. Should I just put more tar along the joints or tell her to call a roofer to replace all of it? What about using elastomeric white stuff? Thanks. Dan

I have roof joists which are comprised of a lower double header (dormer common rafter) that is (2) 2x6's nail-plated together to form a 2x12. The valley rafters and dormer ridges are 2x6's. Lower double headers are 16 o.c.

I would like to finish an indoor brick floor by polishing it and finishing it. The existing brick was installed in what was an old bakery. Can anyone recommend the correct procedure for cleaning uo this floor and finishing it for what now will be a residential application.
