Cleaning white film from windows -- tried everything!29 Nov 2006 12:59 GMT4
I just moved into a downtown city apartment that has nice, big
windows... with a weird white film on them.  It looks as if someone
tried to clean the windows with something odd (hairspray?
sticky-tire-spray?) and now it's dried and hardened itself to the

Making 'clean' floors *feel* clean?19 Nov 2006 19:26 GMT3
I'm wondering...
I swept and vacuumed the floors earlier today - it's just basic, boring
lino.  I then mopped the floors.  After the floors dried, they still felt
kind of funny.  They looked and smelled clean, but didn't feel clean.
Baking soda: Similar effect in my closet as in my fridge?18 Nov 2006 22:25 GMT2
I recently moved into a new apartment, and the closet in my bedroom
wreaks like something horrible.  It's definitely not something dead
(like a mouse), but more likely some derivative of mold.
While I plan to vacuum the floor and wash the walls of the closet with
GUY NEEDS CLEANING ADVICE:  What's the best way to clean laminate floors?18 Nov 2006 21:27 GMT1
I've recently installed Laminate Flooring, and want to know the best
way to clean my floors without damaging them.  I was thinking of just
using a regular mop and water, but have heard that excess water on the
laminate floors might destroy them.  I've had stains on the floors in
Musty Laundry Problem17 Nov 2006 10:13 GMT5
My friend is having a problem with her laundry smelling musty even though
she says does not let the laundry sit in the washer after it is done with
the cycle.  I had this problem a long time ago, but I cannot remember how I
solved it, with the exception of I never let laundry sit ...
Defrosting Freezer16 Nov 2006 10:31 GMT17
I'm getting ready to defrost my upright freezer.  In the past I've
boiled several pots of water and placed them in the freezer for approx.
10 minutes then reboiled the water again while loosening and scraping
the ice.  Does anyone have an easier or faster way.  I've seen those
Help with laundry detergent in carpet14 Nov 2006 23:46 GMT5
In one of my more boneheaded moves of the year, I left a nearly full
96-load jug of liquid laundry detergent on top of our front-loading
washer during its cycle and came home to find a completely empty
96-load jug of laundry detergent on the floor in front of the washer
Cleaning Floor Tiles11 Nov 2006 12:41 GMT2
I have finally got around to cleaning my 1930s floor tiles in my
hallway, not sure what they are made from but they are an original
feature and are porous.
They look great, the ground in dirt and paint flecks have gone the

Washing Powder Residue04 Nov 2006 04:28 GMT3
I had a problem with small white lumps of washing powder remaining in
the laundry at the end of each wash. I eventually discovered that the
carton was damp. I have now changed to washing powder tablets of the
same brand and the problem has disappeared. Each pair of laundry
