Windows Water Stained27 May 2006 15:57 GMT3
We've just moved in and the windows around the house are terribly water
[mineral?] stained! We've tried ammonia, Lime Away, and  CLR with no help.
Is there an product or a mixture of some cleansers that will take the
stains away!?
Tumeric stains on counter top22 May 2006 02:07 GMT3
What is the best way to remove tumeric stains from a kitchen counter top.
I hesitate to use cleanser, because that might create a porous surface,
making the counter top more vulnerable to future stains and bacteria
retention.
Bought a modern 2-color sofa, but will it get dirty and can I clean it?20 May 2006 16:55 GMT1
I bought a beautiful modern leather sofa set (sofa and 2 chairs made of
genuine leather). Armrests are dark brown but the primary color is
light cream (sort of grey-white). I am afraid that it will get really
dirty with time. Is that the case?
20 years of grime on tile & grout17 May 2006 07:57 GMT4
I moved recently, and the bathtub and surround tile (glossy 4.25" square
tiles) had at least 20 years of grime on them. I tried every normal
bathroom cleaner I could find, and nothing even made a visible difference.
I was just about to give up and replace the tile (and I had  ...
You can't just wash that asbestos right out of your bed17 May 2006 00:08 GMT1
You see, it tangles in with other fibers and breaks off
into the air gradually! It even stays intertwined with your
body hair and the dust mites make it worse. Think
of that next time you lean on a plaster wall.
!@#$%^&* ants -- how to get rid of them16 May 2006 19:25 GMT12
I'm having some problems with ants.  I first noticed them about a year ago,
and I don't seem to be able to get rid of them.   First, they moved into an
electric outlet in my kitchen (a very convenient place, I guess) so I
vacuumed them out and sprayed the outlet with "Ortho ...

baby oil in carpet09 May 2006 17:19 GMT4
My son dropped a bottle of baby oil on the carpet in our hallway. I
grabbed it up in a flash, and didn't think the damage was that bad ---
but, now the small spot has spread to 4 times the original size. We
cleaned it w/ a steam cleaner and it looked ok, for about 2 seconds
Need Cast Iron Skillet RX04 May 2006 11:07 GMT1
I opened the dishwasher today and found my cast iron skillet in there.
AARGH! The girl who lives with us (or probably her finance) put it in
there last night and ran the dishwasher. Now my nice Wagner's Original
1891 skillet is covered with rust. Can it be salvaged? Or did I just
furniture polish with wood stain in it?02 May 2006 02:00 GMT7
Somewhere on TV, maybe DIY or HGTV, someone mentioned using a furniture
polish (maybe even a spray-on) with stain in it for those little
scratches on furniture. We just moved and could sure use something like
that but I can't find it in the supermarket. Where would I look for it?

Good afternoon,
I was thinking about mixing vinegar and water to make  a window cleaning
solution.  Anybody used this mixture?  What part water:vinegar should I mix?

biological red growth near water outlets01 May 2006 02:56 GMT5
I have noticed a biological red growth in my home.  It occurs in the
showerhead, vegetable sprayer head, and the coffee maker interior.  I
am attempting to identify it, but need some suggestions.  I have not
collected any samples yet, but plan to view the specimens under
