Mold/Mildew on air bed/mattress31 May 2005 20:33 GMT1
I sleep on one of those "air beds" -- the ones that are the same
sizes as regular mattresses but of a higher quality than a common
air mattress. The one I have has a "velour top." I also have an
egg-carton type foam pad on top of the mattress. I cover both with

getting rid of red slime in shower30 May 2005 19:19 GMT8
I have been trying to get rid of a red slime that keeps coming back in
my shower.  Within 2 to 3 weeks, it reappears.
I've tried Pine Sol and the other cleaners, and we even tried bleach,
and throwing away our cleaning brush each time, but no luck.
Would WD40 work for masking tape residue on jersey material?29 May 2005 00:49 GMT3
I bought a neat Packer shirt (jersey) at a garage sale, it had a masking
tape sticker with the price on, I got MOST of the tape off but there are
still a couple of small pieces almost melded to the thread.  Would WD40 work
on a green jersey shirt to remove the balance of this ...

  Odor Wars 2005
Of the five senses, scent is the least controllable.  Artificial scents are present almost everywhere in our daily lives.  Manufacturers turn out new scented items constantly, in an effort to compete in a multi-million dollar consumer market.
Scented products are ...
crusty cooktop burner pans26 May 2005 22:16 GMT7
I bought a house built in 1958 with the original cooktop stove -- an
O'Keefe and Merritt.  The burner pans have so much baked on/*in*
grease and whatever, they are impossible to clean to the point that
they look like the stainless steel (presumedly) pans they once were.

resin furniture26 May 2005 12:19 GMT4
Okay, this is gonna sound stupid but is there something that would clean my
outdoor plastic resin furniture better than warm soapy water and a scrub
brush and sponge? I prefer home made cleaners since I don't want to spend a
ton of money.

Nylon Scrub Brushes?23 May 2005 22:29 GMT1
I would appear my local Home Despot isn't carrying plastic-handled,
nylon bristle scrub brushes anymore (as if I wasn't keeping their GDF
stock rotating through quickly enough!)
I'm looking for a source, online or B&M, for cheap (US<US$1.99),
stove cleaning help19 May 2005 01:55 GMT3
I have an old gas cooking stove that I would really hate to get rid
of.  Problem is that the 'business end' of the stove, the burner part
that regulates the gas coming in, is really dirty what with cooking
grease and what not.  Is there a way to clean this up?
laundry equipment for Mars mission?18 May 2005 20:59 GMT17
My understanding is, that up till today, no laundry has ever been done
in manned spaceflight.
Presumeably this would need to change for a Mars manned flight.
I believe the requirements are...
what is difference between ammonia and bleach??15 May 2005 15:41 GMT2
I know this is a dumb question.  I know both ammonia and bleach clean
things, but how do I know when to use each one?  I know NEVER to mix
the two, but when is bleach better and when is ammonia better?
