Is there anything I can do to increase my Murray 17.5 horse garden
tractor's ability to climb hills ?
My property slopes in the back and I carved a throughway for the lawn
tractor(I have about 2000 sq ft of garden etc down there) If I get a
good run in high gear and am not pulling the trailer I can make it up
the hill, Today I tried pulling a empty garden trailer in low speed
and got stuck.
I know John Deere makes a four wheel drive lawn tractor but that is
not in the budget right now.
I was thinking maybe chains for the tires might help or just some type
of recycled paving for the trail.
Thank you for any advice.

When you say "stuck", do you mean one/both rear tires are spinning?

Yes stuck spinning in the dirt.

Tractor style tires maybe?  Wheel weights?  Fluid in the tires?
You might be approaching the tip over point for the Murry also.  Front
end weights might not be a bad thing.
How about a winch like the ones for ATVs?  Drive the Murry up the
hill and winch the trailer up.

You answered your own question.  CHAINS
Or a better gripping tire.
