I've heard baby oil will do the trick. But, I once had to have a doctor
remove a bug (don't know what kind) from my ear.

They will continue forward through your brain. It's a bit
painful, but fortunately, they will exit the other ear and you
will recover.
Unfortunately, if it's a female earwig, it will deposit eggs
in your brain on the way through.
