Cleaning brushes for barbeque grills were formerly
made only of brass wires.  The last two I found when
recently shopping seemed to be made of steel, i.e.
likelier to scratch the enamel on the grills -- opinions?

When using any brush on a grill, small flecks tend to break off the
bristles. The steel will rust on or under your grill whereas the brass
won't.

The best brushes for enamel are the spiral ones.  They don't have any
sharp edges to gouge the enamel but work well to scrape off the
encrusted gunk on the grills.
