Quick connect question

With the quick connect piece connected to the faucet, can you use the
faucet without connecting the hose to it, or is the water blocked by
the quick connect piece?

Put a "Y" on the faucet and a short hose on the spare outlet for utility
use.

The kind I have lets water go through, with the hose
disconnected.
