I'm thinking of putting a butterfly roofline on new home... are there
drainage concerns with doing this?  Is there some mechanism to ensure
proper runoff that I should investigate?  I live in Colorado.

It can be done successfully, but flashing and drainage - the whole
system design - must be first rate.  Being in Colorado may or may not
make it a problem.  Snow loading is the major concern.  You're creating
a natural hollow where snow and ice could build up many feet deep and
create a potentially catastrophic situation.

If you're set on this course make sure that you have excellent support
and execution - architect, engineer, roofer.
