I've seen good things about the Bostitch N88RH, especially its ability
to nail joist hangers and other metal connectors.  I also really like
the price ($173 to my door!), especially versus some of the top rated
coil nailers (mid $300s and up).  What are the advantages, other than
size of magazine and gun itself, of a coil nailer?  Thanks.

More compact and more nails = less reloads. Thats it.

Drawbacks are availability of nails can be a bit more limited, and
carrying the coils around on the job. You can fit a lot of nails in your
bag with a non-coil gun (15-20 clips) but just a couple coils of 16's
will fill up a mid sized pouch.

That new Bostitch does look appealing and has some nice reviews on
Amazon. If I were in the market for a new gun it would surely be on the
short list. Seems the only bi*ch has been the availability of the
positive placement nails.

I haven't used the positive placement yet, but the gun itself has
worked just fine.  I've changed the tip back and forth a few times and
it's very simple.  Loading is simple, and it hasn't jammed on me yet.
So far so good.  I'll post back after hanging some joist-hangers or
something.
