In adding a bathroom to an over the garage office, does the vent pipe have
to be a straight up and down affair or can I route it around some problem
areas and out the endwall and then turn it up? And, is there a standard size
for the pipe to be used?

Thanks
JK

If you are not subject to code, you can run it anyway you choose as long as
the air comes in higher than the things it is venting.

You may be able to use one of these:

Ask your plumbing inspector.
