I have HGTV on - watching the International Builders Show 2005.  The
Porter Cable rep is showing off their nifty new circular saw with
tool-less blade changing.  Great!  Except the numnutz puts the blade on
backwards.  Sheesh.

Maybe there's a rerun of Seinfeld on I can watch instead....

I hope tool-less blade changing works better than keyless chucks.
A backwards blade works well for cutting thin aluminum.

I have an old Craftsman portable table saw that I use for rough cutting
stock. It is not a very good saw but I hate to get rid of it because of how
I got it. Many years back when I was young and foolish I needed to have the
exterior trim done on a house. The framers had left and the siders didn't
want to do trim (boom time). I knew a couple of kids who I used on occasion
for labor who were willing, so I gave them the job. Well they run out and
buy the Craftsman saw, bring it back, set it up, and start cutting. But the
stock is jumping off the table, there is a lot of swearing, followed by
"This F'ing piece of sh.t! I told you we needed the good saw!". The guy then
proceeds to take the saw and throw it into the dumpster. They scream off and
come back with a Makita. Floor model. It works fine. They finish, get paid,
and leave.
The next day I fished the Craftsman out of the dumpster to see what was
wrong with it. Yep. They put the blade in backwards.

Yea, you were an @sshole and I see why you want to keep the saw as a
keepsake. To remind you that you were once an @sshole who took advantage of
a couple of inexperienced niave kids.

Hope you learned your lesson.

Say what?  You sure make a lot of assumptions and judgements.  BP
didn't say he kept the saw, he may have returned it for all you know.
In any event, if the kids are old enough to play with power tools and
drive, they should know enough to ask questions.

I might have given the saw back to them in "payment" at the end of the
job and had a good laugh.  That way they'd have two saws for the next
job.  The good one and the beater.

Clint, you ignorant slut....
(Classic Saturday Night Live)

Actually, I did tell them the saw was OK. They said I should  keep it.
And you've made me ruin one of my favorite job-site stories for the rest of
the group. You must be a barrel of fun to be around at parties.
